Awesome Screenshot’s free plan limits cloud storage to 100 screenshots and 20 total cloud recordings. Saving screenshots locally is unlimited, but local recordings are limited to five minutes each for free users. Paid plans remove some storage and feature limits; the right choice depends on whether you need a cloud library, longer or higher-resolution recordings, annotation tools, or team management.
What the free plan limits—and what it does not
Awesome Screenshot’s free allowance depends on where you save the file. Its Help Center says free users can store up to 100 screenshots in their Awesome Screenshot cloud account. That is a cloud-storage cap, not a limit on screenshots saved to your computer. Local screenshots are unlimited. The official limit explanation was dated December 25, 2025.

Why recording duration has three different limits
The terms “up to 20 recordings,” “up to six hours per recording,” and “up to five minutes per recording” describe different constraints. Cloud storage, download/edit eligibility, and local recording duration should not be conflated.

When Basic may be enough
Basic is the relevant step up if the 100-image cloud cap is inconvenient or you need the full annotation tool set, while the 20-recording cloud cap and stated resolution remain adequate.

When Professional is more relevant
Professional is the tier to examine if recording volume, recording duration, or resolution is the constraint: its plan listing specifies unlimited recordings and resolution up to 4K. Choose based on the published limits that matter to your work, not merely the plan name.
When a team plan may fit
Team plans are aimed at organizations that need multiple members and member management. How to choose a plan
- Decide whether you need cloud storage. If local image files are enough, the 100-screenshot cloud cap may not matter; local screenshots are unlimited.
- Check how many cloud recordings you retain. Free and Basic allow up to 20 total, not 20 per month. Deleting downloaded cloud recordings can make room.
- Separate recording length from editing needs. Free and Basic cloud recordings can be up to six hours, but the download-and-edit allowance is up to one hour; local recordings are capped at five minutes for Free and Basic.
- Match resolution and annotation needs. Basic lists all annotation tools; Professional lists up to 4K, while Free and Basic list up to 720p.
- Choose individual or team administration. Organizations should compare member-management needs as well as capture limits.
- Compare the same billing interval. The pricing page displays USD and offers monthly and annual billing selections. Its annual selector advertises 20% savings. Confirm the selected interval and checkout total before subscribing, because displayed prices can change.

Common misunderstandings
- “100 screenshots” means 100 captures ever. No: the stated Free cap is for screenshots kept in cloud storage; local screenshots are unlimited, and deleting cloud images frees space.
- “20 recordings” means 20 each month. No: the published allowance is 20 total cloud recordings for Free and Basic.
- “Six hours” means every recording can be edited or downloaded in full. No: the separate Free and Basic download/edit limit is up to one hour.
- “Local saving removes every limit.” It avoids the cloud screenshot cap, but Free and Basic local recordings are still limited to five minutes each.
- “The annual price is the monthly price.” The pricing page has monthly and annual selections. Compare the chosen billing interval and verify the checkout amount rather than treating a monthly-equivalent annual display as a monthly charge.
