Avro and Bijoy teach different ways to enter Bangla, so LearnType’s author says they need different beginner courses: Avro starts from English-letter spelling, while Bijoy teaches a fixed keyboard map. A single sequence risked being too simple for one group and confusing for the other, according to the LearnType article.
Why one course did not fit both methods
Avro Phonetic and Bijoy solve the same task—typing Bangla—but ask learners to build different habits. In Avro, the learner types a word using English letters and the software converts that input into Bangla. In Bijoy, the learner must learn which keyboard keys produce particular Bangla letters and combinations.

LearnType’s article, “Why I built two Bangla typing courses instead of one,” describes the split as a response to those different starting challenges. The author says a shared lesson sequence was too easy for some learners and confusing for others. Avro is likely to feel more familiar to someone who already types with an English keyboard: the learner spells Bangla words with English letters rather than memorizing a separate key map. LearnType says its Avro course begins with familiar English keys and moves toward more difficult Bangla combinations, including conjuncts and vowel signs.

The challenge is that the spelling a learner expects to type may not match the Bangla text that appears. Learners therefore need to practice how their input method handles sounds and combinations, not just their general typing accuracy.
How the Bijoy path is designed
Bijoy relies on fixed key mappings, so familiarity with English typing alone does not tell a learner where Bangla characters are. LearnType describes its Bijoy course as starting with the keyboard’s home row and expanding outward.

The early work is locating keys and remembering when Shift or link-key combinations are needed. A lesson sequence built around spelling Bangla with English letters would not directly teach those mapping and modifier habits.
Which path should a beginner choose?

These are practical cues from the LearnType author, not universal rules or measured recommendations. If a workplace, school, or publishing workflow requires one method, that requirement is a better guide than general audience advice. Otherwise, choose based on whether spelling-based input or learning a fixed map feels more natural for your intended use.

What the two paths share
LearnType says both beginner paths show live typing speed and accuracy during practice. The article also describes the courses as free to use in a browser, alongside English, Hindi, and Arabic practice. These are claims made by the article; availability and pricing can change and were not independently verified.
The broader design point is that a course should teach the task learners actually face. For Avro, that means moving from familiar English-key input toward Bangla spelling behavior and combinations. For Bijoy, it means building knowledge of the key map and its modifiers. The separate paths reflect those distinct learning problems rather than a claim that one method is best for everyone.
