Is Avengers: Secret Wars delayed?
There is a report of a possible filming delay, not a confirmed change to the movie’s release date. TechRadar reported on October 1, 2026, that several leakers said filming would not start until January 2027. Its account traced the initial warning to the X account Apocalyptic Horseman and said DanielRPK and Alex P had heard the same. TechRadar’s report is evidence that the claim was circulating; it is not studio confirmation.
TechRadar said it had approached Marvel and Disney for comment, but did not report a response. 9to5Marvel likewise described the January start as an unconfirmed leaker report and said Marvel had not announced a filming date. That report corroborates that the rumor was circulating, not that the schedule was officially set.
When is Secret Wars scheduled to come out?
The date in the schedule reported by Variety is December 17, 2027. Variety reported on May 23, 2025, that Disney moved Secret Wars from May 7, 2027, as part of a slate change that also shifted Avengers: Doomsday to December 18, 2026. Why could the reported filming dates put the release schedule under pressure?
Apocalyptic Horseman reportedly suggested filming might wrap in late April or early May 2027. If production began in January and finished in that spring window, roughly seven to eight months would remain before the currently scheduled December 17 release. TechRadar presents that as a conditional estimate of the post-production window, not a confirmed Marvel timeline.
That interval could make the schedule look tighter, but the dates alone do not show how much work remains after filming or whether the studio would change the release date. No post-rumor release-date decision is established in the reporting cited here.

Does work on Avengers: Doomsday explain the rumored delay?
The Associated Press reported that Joe and Anthony Russo were finishing Doomsday while “soft prepping” production on Secret Wars. That supports the narrower point that work on the two films overlapped; it does not establish that Doomsday caused the reported January start. The AP account also quotes Joe Russo describing the demands of making one film and then two, but does not connect those comments to a confirmed schedule change.
