On most MetroPCS Samsung Galaxy phones, the factory-reset path is Settings > General management > Reset > Factory data reset. Review the warning, tap Reset, then Delete all (or the equivalent prompt). This erases personal data and settings, so back up first and make sure you can sign in to the Google and Samsung accounts already associated with the phone.
Samsung notes that menu names and layouts vary by model and software version. If the labels differ, search the Settings app for Factory data reset. Samsung’s current reset and FRP guidance was updated September 3, 2026.
Before you reset the phone
- Back up anything you need. A factory data reset removes photos, videos, documents, messages, apps, accounts, and device settings stored on the phone. Save important data elsewhere before confirming. Samsung explains what is erased.
- Verify account access. Know the Google account previously registered on the phone and the Samsung account credentials. Google Factory Reset Protection (FRP) can require verification of a previously registered account during setup. - Keep it powered. Samsung recommends connecting the phone to a wall charger while resetting; its guide says the process may take up to one hour. That is a preparation recommendation, not a requirement to purchase a new charger. Samsung US
How to factory-reset a MetroPCS Samsung Galaxy
- Open Settings.
- Tap General management.
- Choose Reset.
- Tap Factory data reset.
- Read the list of accounts and content that will be removed, then scroll to the bottom and tap Reset.
- Enter your screen lock credentials if requested.
- Tap Delete all or the equivalent confirmation. Wording can differ by Galaxy model, Android/One UI version, and service provider. Samsung’s procedure and Samsung’s US reset guide show the current variations.
- When the phone restarts, follow the setup screens. If FRP appears, verify with the Google account that was previously registered on the device and provide Samsung account details when requested.
Choose the least-destructive reset that fits the problem

Samsung lists network reset separately from factory reset in its reset guide. A reset also may not permanently fix a fault caused by an app that needs a later update, according to Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance.
What a factory reset does not do for Metro service
A factory reset does not remove a Metro network lock, change your Metro account, activate a SIM, or make an incompatible phone eligible for service. Metro’s activation instructions require a network-unlocked compatible phone plus a Metro SIM or an eSIM-capable device. Use Metro’s activation instructions for service setup and its Bring Your Own Phone page for compatibility.

Unlock eligibility is governed by Metro’s separate phone-unlock policy. That policy states 365 days must have passed since activation for the stated eligibility criterion, subject to its current conditions and exceptions. Resetting the phone cannot substitute for that carrier process.
If Metro service still fails after the reset
- Finish Samsung setup and confirm that the correct Google account is verified if FRP asks for it.
- Check that the Metro SIM is seated correctly, or that the eSIM is installed, and that the device is compatible and unlocked under Metro’s requirements.
- If calls, texts, mobile data, hotspot, or signal still do not work, contact Metro through its support page. Samsung likewise advises contacting the carrier for continuing network problems. Samsung troubleshooting
When you cannot provide the account credentials
Do not assume a factory reset bypasses Google FRP. If setup asks for an account previously registered on the phone and you cannot provide it, use Samsung’s official account-recovery or support options. A reset performed before resolving ownership or account access can leave the phone at the verification screen.
