Steam’s recommended section lists only a 64-bit processor and operating system and 3,600 MB of available space. It does not identify a recommended processor, graphics card, RAM amount, display resolution, graphics preset, or target frame rate. Treat the minimum list as a compatibility threshold, not as a measured performance result.

64-bit Windows
The listing requires both a 64-bit processor and a 64-bit operating system. A 32-bit installation does not satisfy that requirement even if the processor itself is capable of 64-bit operation. You can check the architecture in Windows by opening Settings → System → About and reading System type. It should identify a 64-bit operating system and processor.

There is an important distinction for older PCs. The game page names Windows 7 (64-bit) as its minimum, while Steam’s client notice says the Steam client supports Windows 10 and later from January 1, 2024. The client notice is not the same thing as a revised game requirement, but a Windows 7 computer may still be unable to use the current Steam client. Check the current client support status before treating Windows 7 as a practical way to play.
Processor: Core i5-7500 or Ryzen 2600
Steam gives two alternative CPU entries: Intel Core i5-7500 and AMD Ryzen 2600. You do not need both; your processor needs to meet the listing’s stated Intel or AMD alternative. The names are model references, not a promise that every newer or older chip will behave identically. If your CPU model is different, compare its specifications and generation carefully rather than assuming that a higher advertised clock speed alone proves equivalence.
Graphics: GTX 970 or RX 570
The GPU alternatives are an NVIDIA GTX 970 or an AMD RX 570. These are discrete graphics requirements. Steam does not state whether a particular integrated GPU is supported, nor does it publish a performance comparison for newer or older cards. If your graphics adapter is not one of the listed models, the requirement page alone cannot establish what frame rate or settings you will receive.

DirectX 11
The game lists DirectX Version 11. To see the DirectX version installed on Windows, press Windows key + R, enter dxdiag, and read the value on the System tab. DirectX 11 support is a capability requirement; it is not a graphics-quality setting and does not indicate a particular FPS.
Storage: 3,600 MB
Steam specifies 3,600 MB of available space, which is approximately 3.6 GB in decimal terms. Leave additional room for Steam’s installation process, save data, temporary files, and future patches. The published figure is the game’s listed space requirement, not a guarantee that every update will fit into exactly that amount of free capacity.
How to check whether your PC meets the list
- Confirm Windows architecture. Open Settings → System → About. Under System type, verify 64-bit Windows and a 64-bit processor.
- Identify the CPU. Open Task Manager → Performance → CPU, or use
msinfo32. Record the complete model name and compare it with the Core i5-7500 or Ryzen 2600 entries. - Identify the active GPU. In Task Manager → Performance, select each GPU entry. You can also open
dxdiagand use the Display tabs. Check the dedicated graphics adapter rather than assuming that the first adapter shown is the one used by the game. - Check DirectX. Run
dxdiagand confirm the DirectX version shown on the System tab. The graphics device must also have the required DirectX 11 capability. - Check free space on the installation drive. In File Explorer, right-click the drive selected for the Steam library and choose Properties. Make sure at least 3,600 MB is free, with extra headroom for installation and updates.
- Check Steam itself. A computer can meet the game listing and still have trouble if the installed Steam client no longer supports its operating system. This is especially relevant to Windows 7 systems because of Steam’s separate Windows 10-and-later client notice.
If one of these checks falls below the published minimum, the store page provides no guarantee that the game will start or remain playable. If all checks pass, you meet the documented baseline, but you still do not have a published FPS or quality guarantee.

What is known—and not known—about performance
The game is described as a 1v1 fighter with hand-drawn 2D animation, rollback netcode, and cross-play. Those design and online features do not define a PC performance target. A 2D presentation can still behave differently across hardware, drivers, display modes, and background software, while rollback networking concerns how the game handles input and connection state rather than how quickly a GPU renders frames.
No official benchmark data accompanies the reviewed Steam material. There is no supported number for minimum FPS, average FPS, input latency, resolution, refresh rate, or the result of running the minimum hardware. Do not interpret the GTX 970/RX 570 and Core i5-7500/Ryzen 2600 entries as a claim that those parts deliver 60 FPS, 1080p, high settings, or any other specific outcome.
Online smoothness also has two separate variables. Local rendering depends on the PC, game process, drivers, and display path. Rollback behavior and cross-play depend on the connection and the way the session is handled. A strong internet connection cannot compensate for a rendering problem, and a powerful GPU cannot eliminate delay caused by a poor connection.

How to approach graphics and performance settings
The official product information reviewed does not document the game’s PC graphics menu or provide a settings-by-settings tuning guide. Consequently, there is no authoritative list of a “best” preset, texture value, shadow option, frame cap, or resolution for every PC. Use the game’s own current options rather than applying a preset invented from the hardware table.
Start with a controlled baseline
- Launch the game with its default options after installation and let any first-run setup finish.
- Use a repeatable local situation, such as training or a local match, to observe rendering before judging online play. The purpose is to separate local performance from network behavior.
- Change one setting at a time if the game exposes resolution, display mode, visual effects, frame limiting, or similar controls. Record the original value so you can reverse the change.
- After each change, repeat the same scene or match and watch for stutter, uneven frame pacing, visual artifacts, or input response changes. Do not assume that a lower resolution fixes every problem; CPU limits, drivers, background tasks, and display synchronization can produce different symptoms.
- Keep the configuration that gives the most consistent response for your display and controller. A higher-looking preset is not automatically better for a competitive fighter if it introduces uneven frame delivery.
Make only evidence-based adjustments
Because no official benchmark identifies a bottleneck, avoid buying a component or utility solely on the assumption that it is required. First establish whether the problem is launch failure, local rendering, storage, or networking. Then test the game’s documented options and ordinary system maintenance one change at a time. This approach makes it possible to undo a setting that worsens input response or creates instability.

Troubleshooting by symptom
The game will not launch
- Recheck that Windows and the processor are 64-bit and that the GPU is the adapter you intended to use.
- Confirm that the Steam client itself supports your Windows version. Meeting the game’s Windows 7 listing does not override Steam’s separate client-support policy.
- Use Steam’s game-properties menu to run its installed-file verification, then restart Steam and try again.
- Run
dxdiagand inspect the display device for driver or DirectX errors. The requirement is DirectX 11 support, not merely the presence of a similarly named runtime file. - Make sure the installation drive has more free space than the listed 3,600 MB, particularly if an update is waiting.
The game starts but rendering is uneven
- Test a local match or training session before diagnosing the network.
- Return graphics options to their defaults, then alter one available option at a time.
- Close unnecessary background programs and overlays while testing so they do not change the result between runs.
- Check which GPU is active on systems with more than one adapter. A laptop can expose an integrated and a discrete GPU, and the game may not automatically choose the one you expect.
- Record whether the symptom is a consistently low frame rate, intermittent stutter, visual corruption, or delayed input. Those observations point to different causes and are more useful than a single average number.
Local play is smooth but online play feels poor
That pattern does not prove a graphics limitation. Rollback netcode and cross-play can expose connection quality, routing, or session-specific issues even when local rendering is stable. Compare several sessions, note whether the issue affects one opponent or every match, and keep the local-versus-online distinction clear when seeking support.

Recent updates and what they do not establish
An official announcement dated October 7, 2026 describes an update adding Open Lobbies and spectating, along with story-difficulty changes and other gameplay adjustments. Earlier official announcements say a July 29 update added keyboard-control remapping. These are feature and gameplay changes; the announcements reviewed do not say that either update changed the listed CPU, GPU, operating-system, DirectX, storage requirements, or graphics settings.
For that reason, check the current Steam listing and the latest official announcements after every major patch. A new mode can alter how you use the game without changing the PC baseline, while a future technical update could change requirements even if an earlier patch did not.
Should you upgrade your PC?
The documented information supports a compatibility check, not a universal upgrade order. If your system is below the listed CPU or GPU alternatives, the game’s page does not establish which replacement would produce the best improvement or what performance target an upgrade would achieve. It also does not publish a RAM requirement, so do not invent one or treat a particular memory capacity as officially required.

- Below the operating-system or architecture requirement: resolve the platform limitation first; a faster graphics card cannot make a 32-bit installation satisfy a 64-bit requirement.
- Below the processor or graphics listing: treat playability as unconfirmed and seek current compatibility information rather than assuming an upgrade guarantees a frame rate.
- Meets the minimum but has problems: troubleshoot drivers, active GPU selection, free space, overlays, and in-game options before purchasing hardware.
- Meets the minimum and runs acceptably: there is no documented reason to buy a new component simply because Steam’s recommended section is sparse. The absence of recommended values is an information gap, not an upgrade mandate.
Bottom line for PC buyers
To meet the published baseline for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, a PC needs 64-bit Windows, an Intel Core i5-7500 or AMD Ryzen 2600 class processor as listed, a GTX 970 or RX 570 class graphics entry as listed, DirectX 11, and at least 3,600 MB of free storage.
