Avast SecureLine VPN is a separately subscribed virtual private network for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. It routes your connection through an encrypted tunnel and can mask your IP address, but it does not make you anonymous or prevent every form of tracking. Avast says it does not log browsing activity, while retaining certain connection metadata; that distinction matters when evaluating its privacy claims.
What Avast SecureLine VPN does
A VPN routes internet traffic through a service provider’s servers. Avast describes SecureLine as an encrypted tunnel that can mask your location and IP address, and recommends it for public or unsecured Wi-Fi. These are vendor-described benefits, not a guarantee that every threat or tracking method is blocked. Avast’s support FAQ says the service uses AES-256 encryption; that specification is not an independent security rating. Avast SecureLine VPN FAQ

Is Avast SecureLine VPN safe, and what does it log?
Avast’s FAQ, updated October 5, 2026, says: “We do not log activity such as the websites you visit, what data is transferred, and which IP addresses are accessed.” Read that as a claim about activity logging, not as a claim that the service keeps no information. Avast SecureLine VPN FAQ

Its current VPN Policy describes server-side timestamps and the amount of data transmitted as service data retained for 35 days on a rolling basis, along with client-side connection and application events. The FAQ and policy do not use identical wording, so consult the current policy for the details that apply to your use. Avast VPN Policy

Availability in India
Avast says SecureLine features are unavailable to users physically in India, and access to Indian VPN servers is unavailable regardless of the user’s location. Avast attributes this restriction to local cybersecurity logging requirements. This is Avast’s explanation, not a full analysis of Indian law. Avast SecureLine VPN FAQ
