Project open in Audionaut
According to the product page, each tool call runs one Audionaut command against a copy of the open project’s live state. A change becomes one undo step, and the project file is not written as part of that operation. This is the workflow behind the page’s promise that “each change arrives as one undo step, and saving stays yours.” The user can review the edits in the application and decide when to save.

Project not open
When the project is not open in the app, the product page says Audionaut reads and writes the project file directly. Do not assume those direct file operations create undo steps in the open application: the advertised undo behavior is for the live, open-project workflow. Keep a backup when working directly on a project file if you need an independent recovery point.

The product page lists WAV, AIFF, MP3, FLAC and Ogg for import and export. It says projects can be exported losslessly as WAV, AIFF or FLAC, or in compressed MP3 or Ogg Vorbis formats. Audionaut project packages include a human-readable JSON project file, according to the vendor.

Connecting an MCP assistant
For Claude Code, the official page shows a setup command using npx -y audionaut-mcp and names Node.js as a prerequisite. It directs Claude Desktop users to the manual for setup. These are separate setup paths; the available instructions do not establish one universal procedure for every MCP client.
Who should consider it
Audionaut is relevant if you want an MCP-capable assistant to make discrete edits to a multitrack project while you keep the open application’s undo history and control over saving. Its listed support for arranging, analysis, recording, stem separation and hardware routing may also matter if those features fit your workflow.
