The ASUS ProArt PZ14 makes the most sense for photographers and visual creators who want a light Windows tablet with a large, color-focused OLED screen, pen input, and access to major desktop creative apps. Its tablet-first design does bring practical compromises: the detachable keyboard is less steady away from a desk, demanding editing can make the fans audible, and large projects can quickly strain the 1TB storage option. Check ARM compatibility for specialist software and accessories before relying on it for a complete mobile setup.
What the ProArt PZ14 is—and who it suits
The PZ14 is a 14-inch Windows tablet built around creator-oriented hardware rather than a permanently attached laptop keyboard. ASUS lists an 18-core Snapdragon X2 Elite X2E88100 option, up to 32GB of onboard memory, and up to a 1TB SSD for model HT7407. The tablet itself weighs 0.79kg (1.74 lb), according to ASUS, making the screen-and-computer portion relatively easy to carry on its own.

That combination is appealing if you edit photos, draw, or review visual work on the move and prefer to use a pen or touch controls when a table is unavailable. It is a less straightforward fit if you expect a detachable keyboard to behave like a rigid laptop on your lap, need upgradeable memory, or depend on niche Windows software whose ARM compatibility has not been confirmed.

ASUS specifies a 14-inch, 2880×1800 OLED touchscreen with a 16:10 aspect ratio and 144Hz refresh rate. It lists 100% DCI-P3 coverage, Pantone validation, stylus support, and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1000 certification. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of color accuracy or brightness.

ASUS also lists 500 nits and up to 1,000 nits peak brightness for HDR. The peak HDR figure should not be read as sustained full-screen brightness. The resolution and wide color gamut are useful for viewing detailed images and creative timelines; the tall 16:10 format also gives more vertical room than a widescreen 16:9 panel.
Creative apps and ARM compatibility
In its July 2, 2026 review of a 32GB/1TB configuration, TechRadar reported that Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve opened and ran without compatibility errors during its testing. That is encouraging for mainstream photo and video work, but it is one reviewer’s experience—not a guarantee for every app release, plugin, driver, peripheral, or workflow.
Compatibility issues appeared in the same review outside that core creative-app set. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle failed to load because of a Vulkan plugin compatibility error, and Hogwarts Legacy showed graphics breakup. PCMark 10 and Windows Experience Index also failed to run despite workarounds. These results illustrate why a specific app’s successful launch does not establish universal ARM compatibility.

Before buying, confirm support for the exact versions of any must-have plugins, hardware drivers, audio or capture devices, and other peripherals in your workflow. If your work depends on a particular effect, codec, or device, check with its developer or manufacturer rather than assuming it will behave like it does on an x86 Windows laptop.
Keyboard, pen, and working away from a desk
TechRadar found the detachable keyboard comfortable enough on a desk, but less practical away from a firm surface: the joint flexed, making typing more difficult. For field use, the reviewer shifted to pen and touch input. In other words, the PZ14 can travel without being tied to a desk, but that freedom comes partly from using it as a tablet—not from getting the same stable typing position everywhere.
ASUS lists stylus support, and TechRadar described using the ASUS Pen 3.0 with Lightroom, Photoshop, StoryCube, and MuseTree. Confirm that the Pen 3.0 is compatible with the exact local model and check whether it is included or sold separately. Keyboard and charger contents can also vary by market and model, so verify the box contents for the SKU you intend to buy.

Performance, cooling, and noise
TechRadar observed that Performance mode was available when the tablet was connected to mains power. During rendering and timeline work, its fans were noticeably audible. The reviewer found quieter modes more balanced for lighter use and described fanless operation in the 0dB mode. Treat those as observations from that review’s configuration and workloads; fan behavior can vary with settings and the work being done.

The available evidence does not establish a comparable benchmark result against other creator PCs, so it is better to judge the PZ14 by whether its tested apps and noise profile fit your own workload.
Storage, memory, ports, and expansion
ASUS lists 16GB or 32GB of onboard LPDDR5X memory and 512GB or 1TB of M.2 PCIe 4.0 storage, plus an M.2 2230 expansion slot. The memory is onboard, not user-upgradable; ASUS explicitly says so for its US listing. Choose the memory configuration you expect to need at purchase rather than planning a later RAM upgrade.

In TechRadar’s test workflow, the 1TB drive filled quickly with creative applications and project assets. Photo and video libraries can make capacity a practical constraint, so consider how you will archive and move project files. ASUS lists two USB4 Gen 3 Type-C ports with display and power-delivery support and data speeds up to 40Gbps, as well as an SD Express 7.0 card reader. A USB4 external SSD is one possible way to keep larger libraries or active projects accessible; check a specific drive or dock for its speed, display, and power requirements.
ASUS lists Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, while noting that supported versions can depend on operating-system support and drivers. Those wireless specifications should not be treated as a promise that every feature is available in every software configuration.

Battery and portability
ASUS specifies a 75Wh battery and a tablet weight of 0.79kg (1.74 lb), with thickness listed at 0.90cm. Its US product page describes video-playback testing in April 2026 and web/video testing in March 2026 on a 16GB/512GB OLED configuration with specified settings, but the available figures here do not establish a runtime to quote. Battery life will vary with configuration, workload, settings, and battery age, so do not use the capacity alone to predict hours away from an outlet.

Configurations and price context
ASUS lists 16GB/512GB and 32GB/1TB configurations, but availability and included accessories depend on market and exact model. TechRadar reported US Best Buy availability at about $1,900 for a 16GB/512GB configuration in its July 2026 review. That is a dated retail observation, not a current price quote; the review could not confirm UK pricing or broad availability outside the US.
For a fair budget, check whether the local price includes the detachable keyboard, pen, and charger. ASUS lists a 68W USB-C power supply, but says charger inclusion varies by region and model.
Verdict: a capable creator tablet with tablet-shaped tradeoffs
The ProArt PZ14 is best suited to mobile creators who value its high-resolution OLED touchscreen, stylus support, light tablet body, and the prospect of running mainstream Windows creative apps. TechRadar’s app testing is reassuring for several major tools, while its keyboard, fan, storage, and game-compatibility findings show where a tablet form factor and ARM platform can require compromises.
Choose it if pen-and-touch work is a genuine part of your routine and you have checked your essential software and peripherals. If your priority is reliable lap typing, silent sustained rendering, or upgradeable memory, weigh those needs carefully against the PZ14’s display and portability.
