ASUS Pad vs. iPad in 2026: Which Tablet Is Right for You?

The ASUS Pad and iPad serve different ecosystems. Compare exact models, apps, screen sizes, accessories, support and local total cost before buying.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose the ASUS Pad if you want a large, high-refresh Android tablet that can work with a PC through ASUS software and you can confirm local stock, price and support. Choose an iPad when iPadOS apps, Apple-device integration, model-specific accessories or a clearly documented update path matter more. There is no single “iPad” equivalent: Apple’s current range runs from the compact iPad mini to 11- and 13-inch Air and Pro models, plus the standard iPad.

The ASUS Pad (T3201) was announced on June 2, 2026, so its availability and regional package can differ. Compare the exact ASUS configuration with the exact iPad model, storage, connectivity and accessories you can actually buy in your country.

The short answer

For most buyers, the decision comes down to software first and hardware second. ASUS’s announced Pad is a single 12.2-inch Android 16 tablet with a 2.8K dual-layer OLED panel, 144Hz refresh, a 523g body and a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor. Apple sells several iPad families using different chips, sizes, cameras, ports and accessory systems. Treating “iPad” as one product can lead you to compare the wrong devices.

ASUS Pad (T3201) You prefer Android 16, want a large OLED display with high refresh, use a Windows PC and value ASUS GlideX workflows. Regional retail stock, price, warranty, update policy, Pen 2.0 and keyboard compatibility, and what the box contains.
iPad (A16) You want Apple’s standard tablet tier and already use Apple services or accessories. Storage, Wi‑Fi or cellular version, exact keyboard and Pencil compatibility, and the price in your market.
iPad Air (M4) You need more headroom for demanding creative or productivity apps without moving to the Pro line. Whether the 11- or 13-inch model, keyboard and Pencil generation fit your workflow.
iPad Pro (M5) You specifically need Apple’s highest-end tablet tier and its supported professional features. 11- or 13-inch size, storage, cellular option, display and accessory costs.
iPad mini (A17 Pro) Portability and one-handed reading are more important than a large canvas. Its compact form factor, storage and the Pencil model supported by that generation.

The table identifies product families, not a performance ranking. Apple’s published comparison lists these current families, while its iPadOS 26 compatibility material covers particular generations and models. Features can vary by model, region, language and carrier.

  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

What the ASUS Pad is—and what it is not

ASUS describes the T3201 as its return to the tablet category after several years. The announcement specifies Android 16 and positions the device for entertainment, portability and cross-device use. The headline hardware announced by ASUS is:

  • 12.2-inch, 2.8K dual-layer OLED display
  • 144Hz refresh rate
  • MediaTek Dimensity 8300 chipset
  • 523g weight and 6.5mm profile
  • 9,000mAh battery
  • Fast charging advertised as reaching 50% in 30 minutes

Those figures and charging claims come from ASUS’s June 2, 2026 announcement. They are manufacturer specifications, not independent battery or performance tests. Actual runtime, charging time, thermal behavior and sustained performance depend on software, brightness, workload, charger and regional configuration.

Do not confuse this Android Pad with ASUS’s Windows tablet and 2-in-1 products. ASUS’s US category also includes Windows devices such as the detachable-keyboard ProArt PZ14. If you meant a Windows detachable, you are asking a different comparison question from ASUS Pad versus iPad.

Software and ecosystem: make this your first decision

When Android 16 is the better fit

The ASUS Pad runs Android 16. That is the natural choice if the apps, accounts and file habits you already use are centered on Android or Google services, or if you want to move files between the tablet and a non-Apple computer without adopting Apple’s ecosystem. Android also lets you evaluate the exact app versions and permissions you need before buying; availability and behavior still differ by country and developer.

ASUS specifically highlights GlideX. ASUS says it can support screen sharing, file transfers and multi-device workflows between the Pad and PCs. Those functions are most relevant when your main computer is a Windows PC or another non-Apple system. Confirm the required PC software, connection method, supported operating-system versions and whether your intended regional Pad includes the same features.

When iPadOS is the better fit

An iPad is preferable when your work or school routine depends on iPadOS versions of particular apps, Apple services or an existing Apple-device setup. The current families use different chips and occupy different price and size tiers, so identify the exact model rather than assuming every iPad behaves alike.

Apple’s iPadOS 26 compatibility guide lists supported generations and models. Apple also notes that some features depend on model, region, language and carrier. A feature shown in an iPadOS demonstration is therefore not a promise that every current or older iPad will receive it.

Test the apps that actually matter

Neither platform is universally “better” for every app. Make a short list of the applications you will use for documents, learning, drawing, video, communication, remote access and file management. Check each app’s tablet layout, offline behavior, subscription requirement, peripheral support and ability to exchange files with your other devices. A single must-have app can outweigh a difference in display or processor.

Screen size, viewing and portability

ASUS gives the Pad one clear screen proposition: a 12.2-inch 2.8K dual-layer OLED panel with 144Hz refresh. That combination is aimed at people who want a generous workspace, smooth scrolling and strong contrast in a relatively light body. The 523g announced weight is useful context when comparing it with larger tablets, but the practical carrying weight also includes a case, keyboard and pen.

Apple offers more physical choices. The iPad mini prioritizes compact reading and travel; the standard iPad is the general-purpose tier; the Air comes in 11- and 13-inch sizes; and the Pro comes in 11- and 13-inch sizes. Screen technology, refresh behavior, brightness, weight and camera arrangements differ across those families. Use Apple’s specification page for the exact model instead of borrowing a number from another iPad.

Match the canvas to your work

  • Reading and travel: Compare the mini with the ASUS Pad only if a larger screen is worth carrying. The mini’s compact design may be easier to hold for long sessions, while the ASUS display provides more room for split-screen work.
  • Notes and diagrams: A 12.2-inch canvas can reduce zooming, but the pen’s latency, palm rejection and app support matter as much as diagonal size. Test your preferred note-taking app with the intended stylus.
  • Typing and multitasking: Larger 11- to 13-inch iPads and the ASUS Pad leave more room for documents beside reference material. Add the keyboard and case dimensions to your bag calculation.
  • Video: Panel quality, speakers, streaming-app support and the way you hold the tablet are more important than refresh rate alone. Confirm the services you subscribe to support the operating system and resolution you expect.

Performance: compare workloads, not chip names

The ASUS Pad announcement names MediaTek’s Dimensity 8300. Apple’s current families use A16, A17 Pro, M4 or M5 chips depending on the model. These names indicate different product tiers, but the available material does not provide a controlled benchmark comparing them. Do not treat a chip label as proof that one tablet will be faster in your particular application.

For everyday work, identify the operations that create delays: opening large PDFs, exporting video, applying effects to photos, compiling code, switching between many browser tabs or using an external display. Look for tests of the exact retail models and software versions if those tasks are critical. If no comparable test exists, buy from a seller with a practical return policy and verify your workflow during the return window.

Storage and connectivity are part of performance

A fast processor cannot compensate for insufficient storage or an unsuitable connection. Compare storage tiers on a like-for-like basis, then decide whether you need cellular service, a physical or eSIM option, USB accessories, external-display support or fast local file transfer. Apple and ASUS can offer different configurations by country; a model number alone does not guarantee the same connectivity everywhere.

Pen, keyboard and desk use

ASUS accessories

ASUS names ASUS Pen 2.0 and Bluetooth keyboard support for the Pad. ASUS also says a protective case is included in the box. Treat those statements as a starting point, not a guarantee for every country or seller: confirm the exact bundle, case design, keyboard layout, charging method and pen compatibility for the T3201 SKU you are buying.

iPad accessories

Apple’s Pencil and keyboard compatibility is generation-specific. Before purchasing, record the exact iPad family, screen size and year, then check Apple’s compatibility list for the Pencil and keyboard you want. Do not assume that an accessory made for one 11-inch iPad will fit another 11-inch iPad, or that every iPad supports the same charging and attachment method.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Calculate the complete setup

Compare the tablet, stylus, keyboard, case, charger and any cellular plan as one package. A lower tablet price can disappear once the required pen and keyboard are added; an included case can reduce the ASUS Pad’s initial accessory cost, but only if the supplied case meets your protection and stand requirements. Regional bundles and promotions change, so write down the contents of the exact listing.

Battery and charging expectations

ASUS specifies a 9,000mAh battery and says the Pad can reach 50% charge in 30 minutes. The announcement does not state the test conditions, charger wattage, temperature or a standardized runtime. Use the numbers to understand the hardware concept, not as a guaranteed number of hours or a promise that every charger will achieve the quoted speed.

Apple’s battery guidance is model-specific. Compare the manufacturer’s stated runtime for the exact iPad, then account for brightness, wireless radios, video playback, gaming, keyboard use and background synchronization. If you work away from outlets, evaluate battery behavior in the applications you use rather than comparing capacities printed on different platforms.

Price, stock and warranty: verify your market

No current local retail price or stock status for the ASUS Pad is established by the announcement. That means a broad claim such as “ASUS is cheaper” is not supportable. The Pad may launch at different times, with different storage or connectivity options, and through different sellers in each country.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open the ASUS store or an authorized seller for your country and search for model T3201.
  2. Record the advertised price, currency, tax treatment, storage, wireless or cellular configuration and included accessories.
  3. Check the warranty length, service location, return period and whether the seller is authorized.
  4. Price the same categories for the iPad model you are considering, including the Pencil, keyboard, case, charger and cellular service where applicable.
  5. Compare total delivered cost rather than headline tablet prices.

Do not substitute an imported ASUS listing for a local product without checking keyboard layout, charger plug, cellular-band support, warranty coverage and software availability. The same caution applies to imported iPads.

Software support and long-term ownership

Apple provides a model-specific iPadOS 26 compatibility list, which lets you check whether a particular iPad generation is supported. Feature availability can still vary by region, language and carrier. Keep the exact model identifier and purchase date with your records so future compatibility checks are unambiguous.

The material available for the ASUS Pad does not establish an update-duration commitment. Before buying, find current regional ASUS documentation that states the Android version, security-update policy, support period and process for receiving updates. If ASUS has not published those terms for your market, treat long-term support as an unresolved buying risk rather than assuming parity with Apple.

Which tablet fits your situation?

Student who already uses a Windows laptop

Start with the apps required by your school. If Android versions are sufficient and PC file exchange is central, GlideX and Bluetooth keyboard support may make the ASUS Pad attractive. If your course depends on iPadOS-only software, Apple Pencil features tied to a specific iPad generation or an existing Apple account, choose the compatible iPad instead.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Creative professional

Identify the exact creative applications, export formats, storage needs and external-display requirements. An iPad Pro or Air may be the appropriate Apple tier, while the ASUS Pad’s announced display and Android software could suit a different workflow. There is no benchmark in the available material that justifies declaring one platform faster for all creative work.

Reader and frequent traveler

Decide whether you want the iPad mini’s compact format or the ASUS Pad’s larger 12.2-inch canvas. Include the case, keyboard and charger in the travel weight. Check offline-download support for your reading and streaming apps before departure.

Family entertainment tablet

Compare the apps and parental-control features your household actually uses, then inspect speakers, display comfort, storage and repair or replacement costs. A 144Hz panel is a specification, not proof that every video service or game will use that refresh rate.

Apple-device household

An iPad usually creates less friction when your phones, computers, accounts and services are already Apple-based. Confirm that the chosen model supports the Pencil, keyboard and iPadOS features you need; the lowest-priced iPad is not automatically the right one.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Android and PC household

The ASUS Pad is the more natural first candidate when your files and accounts are already Android- or PC-centered. Verify GlideX requirements and the exact regional accessory bundle, then compare the total cost with an iPad configured for equivalent storage and input.

A practical buying checklist

  • Write down the exact ASUS Pad T3201 or iPad model, generation, screen size and storage.
  • Confirm operating-system and app compatibility for every essential task.
  • Check local price, tax, stock, warranty and return terms on the date you buy.
  • List the stylus, keyboard, case, charger and cellular service you will need.
  • Verify accessory compatibility by model number, not by screen size alone.
  • For ASUS, confirm the included case and the availability of Pen 2.0 and keyboard accessories in your region.
  • For iPad, verify the exact Pencil and keyboard generation.
  • Read the current ASUS update policy; use Apple’s iPadOS 26 compatibility guide for the iPad model.
  • Check weight and dimensions with the accessories attached if you commute.
  • Keep the receipt and test your essential apps, pen, keyboard, wireless connections and charging during the return period.

Bottom line

The ASUS Pad is a credible alternative for shoppers who want Android 16, a large 12.2-inch OLED display, high refresh, PC-oriented GlideX features and a potentially simpler accessory bundle. Its unresolved regional price, stock and update policy mean you should verify those details before committing.

An iPad is the safer choice when your decision depends on a known Apple app and accessory ecosystem, an existing Apple-device workflow or a clearly documented model-specific iPadOS support list. Choose the exact iPad family that matches your size and workload; do not compare the ASUS Pad with “the iPad” as though Apple sells only one tablet.
