ASUS laptop owners may encounter charging or battery-life trouble, loud fans or overheating, display faults, connection or input problems, and freezes or unresponsive screens. These are practical troubleshooting categories—not a ranking of the most frequent complaints: ASUS support lists these types of issues but does not publish complaint rates. Exact ports, MyASUS tools, charging behavior, and repair options vary by model and region.
1. Charging trouble or short battery life
First identify which symptom you have: the laptop will not power on or charge, it charges slowly or loses charge while plugged in, or it runs down quickly when unplugged. ASUS’s battery and charging guide recommends checking the supplied adapter and cable for damage and making sure connections are secure. Use the charger specified for your exact model. Do not assume every USB-C port can charge the laptop; port capabilities differ by model.

A charge that pauses around 95% may be normal battery protection. If Battery Care is available and configured, it can intentionally limit charging to 80% or 60%. Those thresholds describe protective charging behavior, not battery-health or failure rates. If the laptop supports it, run the battery checks in MyASUS and follow the model-specific results.
If the problem is short runtime rather than charging, reduce avoidable power use: close apps you do not need, lower screen brightness, turn off the keyboard backlight when practical, and disconnect unused peripherals. ASUS also has a separate short battery life guide. If the adapter is damaged, consult your laptop manual for the required wattage and connector before replacing it.

2. Overheating or loud fan behavior
Fans commonly become louder during demanding work such as gaming or video editing because they respond to CPU and GPU temperatures. Persistent excessive heat or unusual fan behavior can also be associated with obstructed vents, dust or debris, environmental conditions, or fan wear. ASUS’s overheating and fan guide for Windows 11 and Windows 10 recommends keeping vents unobstructed, using the laptop on a firm surface, and following ASUS guidance for BIOS, Windows, and driver updates.
If your model offers fan modes, choose one suited to the task; labels and availability vary. MyASUS fan diagnostics may also be available on some models. A stand or cooling pad can help keep airflow clear, but it will not repair a failing fan. If a supported diagnostic reports an abnormal result, contact ASUS support or an authorized service provider.

3. Display problems
Flicker, artifacts, blur, a damaged-looking image, or a blank internal screen can have different causes. One useful distinction is whether the fault appears outside Windows. ASUS recommends checking the display in BIOS: if the same symptom remains there, hardware may be involved; if the BIOS display looks normal, software troubleshooting may be appropriate. Note whether the issue is intermittent or persistent and whether it occurs in BIOS as well as Windows. 4. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, keyboard, or peripheral trouble
Connection and input problems are a broad category, not one diagnosis. ASUS lists Wi-Fi, wired networking, Bluetooth, keyboard, touchpad, USB and Type-C, audio, and storage as separate support topics in its laptop FAQ index. A connection failure may involve the network, a driver, the connected peripheral, or the laptop itself.
- Identify the affected feature and check the troubleshooting guide for your exact model and Windows version.
- Note whether the issue affects one network or peripheral, or several, and whether it began after a driver, software, or hardware change.
- Use the relevant ASUS steps to distinguish a settings or driver problem from a possible hardware fault before seeking repair.

5. Freezing, crashes, or an unresponsive screen
A freeze, crash, or black or white screen during use can follow a range of software or hardware problems. ASUS’s freeze and unresponsiveness guide for Windows 11 and Windows 10 recommends disconnecting external devices, updating BIOS, Windows, and drivers, and running supported MyASUS hardware diagnostics. Check whether the problem began after a software installation or update, and whether heat or a change in workload preceded it. If the timing points to a recent update or installation, ASUS advises considering a rollback or removal.

Back up important files before attempting a system reset. If the recommended steps do not resolve the issue, contact ASUS support. When describing the problem, include when it started, whether it happens with external devices disconnected, and any diagnostic result; these details help narrow the next step.

How to narrow down the cause
Before buying parts or arranging a repair, record what changes the symptom. Is it intermittent or persistent? Does it happen in BIOS, only in Windows, or only in one application? Does it change with workload, charger, or connected peripherals? Does a supported ASUS diagnostic identify a hardware concern, or does a reversible settings or driver check resolve it? These observations help separate a model-specific setup issue from a likely service problem.
