Identify your A50 generation and platform version
Astro A50 instructions differ by generation and by whether the headset is the Xbox or PlayStation version. Logitech’s support materials cover Gen 3, Gen 4, and A50 X in distinct contexts; compatibility details for one variant should not be applied to all A50s.

For example, Logitech’s Gen 4 PlayStation product specifications name PS4 and PC/Mac compatibility and a Micro-B USB 2.0 connection. That connector and platform information is specific to the listed variant, not a universal specification for every A50.
Check PC mode and the USB connection
On the documented Gen 3 base station, Logitech says to select PC mode when using the headset with a computer. Its Windows ASTRO Command Center setup likewise calls for connecting the device by USB and setting the base station to PC mode. Make sure the USB connection is firmly seated at both ends and that the base station is connected to the PC.

If the base station is set to a console mode, or the USB connection is loose, the PC setup may not work as expected. Logitech’s steps are specific to the documented models; if your base station has different controls or labels, use support information for your exact A50.
Reseat the headset and verify charging and sync
Place the headset squarely on the base station so its charging contacts meet correctly. Logitech’s Gen 3 firmware instructions say the headset should be seated on the station and visibly charging before ASTRO Command Center is expected to prompt for an update. Logitech’s Gen 3 troubleshooting guidance also recommends confirming that the headset and base station are synced.

- Lift the headset off the base station and place it back carefully.
- Check whether the base station indicates that the headset is charging.
- Confirm that the headset and base station are synced, following the instructions for your generation.
If it does not show a charging indication, resolve the seating or connection issue before treating firmware as the next step.
Choose firmware software for your model
Do not install or open an app based only on the A50 name. Logitech’s Windows ASTRO Command Center support article lists A50 Wireless with Base Station Gen 3 and Gen 4 as supported hardware, and its setup flow uses USB connection and PC mode. The article was published on February 16, 2023; it documents those supported models but does not establish that its download is the newest software available today.

For A50 and A50 X firmware checks, Logitech’s current guidance points to G HUB on PC or Mac, or the Logitech G app on mobile. These are separate product-specific instructions. Verify that the app and procedure match your exact model rather than assuming ASTRO Command Center applies to every A50 generation.
When to bypass a USB hub or dock
If the specific symptom is choppy or unclear microphone audio and the headset is connected through a USB hub or docking station, Logitech recommends connecting it directly to the PC or game system to isolate the issue. This is a targeted check for that microphone symptom; it does not establish that a hub is the cause of every PC detection or connection problem.

What to do if it still will not connect
If the mode, USB connection, seating, sync, and model-appropriate firmware checks do not resolve the problem, contact Logitech support for the exact product. Include the information below so the next troubleshooting step can be specific:

Check compatibility before replacing a part
If Logitech support points to failed hardware, match any replacement to the exact A50 generation and Xbox or PlayStation variant. Check whether it includes the base station or only the headset, and verify the required connector and included cables. Official specifications show that variants differ, but they do not establish compatibility for a particular third-party listing.
