Short answer: Logitech explicitly lists Dolby Atmos for the Astro A50 X on Xbox Series X|S and PC/Mac, but its reviewed A50 Gen 5 product page does not confirm Atmos support. On PS5, Logitech describes the A50 X as supporting 3D Audio—not Dolby Atmos. The clearest confirmed difference between the headsets is switching: the A50 X supports console video switching as well as audio switching, while the A50 Gen 5 offers audio switching.

Logitech identifies the comparison model as ASTRO A50 (Gen 5). That generation label matters: Logitech lists different software support for Gen 3 and Gen 4 than for Gen 5, so an older A50 should not be assumed to share Gen 5’s features or setup.

Does the Astro A50 support Dolby Atmos?
A50 X on Xbox Series X|S
Yes. Logitech explicitly lists Dolby Atmos spatial 3D surround sound for the A50 X when connected to Xbox Series X|S through HDMI 2.1. The same product page lists 4K at 120 Hz passthrough and Game/Chat mixing for this connection. These are Logitech’s stated capabilities, not independent test results. See the A50 X product page.

Logitech says the A50 X connects to PC or Mac over USB-C and lists Dolby Atmos or Windows Sonic, alongside Game/Chat mixing and G HUB customization. The claim is specific to PC/Mac; it should not be carried over to every platform the headset supports.

A50 X on PS5
Logitech lists 3D Audio and Game/Chat mixing for the A50 X on PS5. It does not describe this PS5 connection as Dolby Atmos, so the Xbox Atmos statement is not evidence of Atmos support on PS5.
A50 Gen 5
Logitech’s reviewed A50 Gen 5 product page lists platform compatibility and PLAYSYNC Audio, but does not state whether the headset supports Dolby Atmos. That omission does not establish that Atmos is unsupported; it means the available product-page information does not confirm it. If Atmos is essential to your purchase, verify support for the Gen 5 model and your intended platform with Logitech before buying.

What PLAYSYNC switching does—and does not do
Both headsets are designed to work across multiple systems, but their switching descriptions differ. Logitech says PLAYSYNC can connect to up to three systems at once. The A50 X supports audio switching on console and PC, plus video switching on console; Logitech describes the A50 Gen 5’s PLAYSYNC Audio as streamlined for audio switching.
That makes the A50 X the better-documented fit if you want the headset base station to switch console video as well as audio. If you only need audio to move between a console and other connected systems, the A50 Gen 5’s stated feature set may be sufficient. Logitech’s description does not claim video switching for the Gen 5.
