Then check that you are using the correct Astro software, that Dolby Access and the relevant Atmos entitlement are in place, and that your device is set to output Atmos while playing Atmos-capable content. A50 generations and platform variants do not all use the same software or connection path.
1. Identify your A50 generation and platform version
Look at the headset packaging, base station label, or product listing to confirm the exact model. In particular, distinguish an Xbox A50 from a PlayStation A50; a similar headset name does not guarantee the same compatibility or license.

For the A50 Gen 4, Logitech lists the Xbox version as compatible with Xbox Series X|S and PC/Mac, and the PlayStation version as compatible with PS4 and PC/Mac. Logitech’s Gen 4 page describes a free two-year Dolby Atmos activation code for the Xbox version only. That offer does not establish that a used or refurbished headset has an unused code. Do not choose an Astro app based only on its name. Logitech’s software page lists Astro Command Center for A50 Gen 3 and Gen 4, and G HUB for A50 Gen 5 and A50 X. Use the download route for your operating system and model on Logitech’s Astro Series Software & Download page.

3. Set up Dolby Access and check the entitlement
Dolby directs A50 users to Dolby Access for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10/11 PC. Its A50 compatibility information describes the Xbox headset as supporting Dolby Atmos on those platforms with the included activation code. Dolby’s Xbox guidance says: “Download the Dolby Access app on your Xbox console to start your free trial of Dolby Atmos for Headphones, set up a Dolby-enabled device or adjust audio and image settings.” Read Dolby’s Astro A50 compatibility details and Dolby’s Xbox guidance.
If Dolby Access asks you to pay or activate Atmos when you expected access, verify the headset variant, the account in use, and whether the code was already redeemed. The official information cited here does not establish how every previously redeemed or migrated license behaves; for account or entitlement questions, contact Dolby or Microsoft support rather than assuming the headset is defective.

4. Check the selected audio output and the content
Atmos playback requires a compatible playback device, Atmos output enabled, connected audio hardware, and content that carries Atmos. Dolby also notes that settings vary by device model, so there is no reliable universal menu sequence for every A50 and operating-system combination. Use the audio-output controls for your exact device and model, and consult its current instructions. Dolby’s Atmos setup guide explains these prerequisites.
- Confirm the A50 is connected through the route intended for that model and platform.
- Check that the active output is the headset or its supported audio path, with Atmos selected where the platform offers it.
- Test with content that explicitly supports Dolby Atmos. Stereo content, or a different selected output, can make Atmos appear absent even when the headset itself is working.
5. Follow the A50 X connection path—not Gen 4 instructions
The A50 X is a newer, separate model with its own connection and spatial-audio paths. Logitech describes Xbox Dolby Atmos through HDMI 2.1; PC/Mac connects by USB-C and supports Dolby Atmos or Windows Sonic. For PS5, Logitech describes 3D Audio, which should not be treated as Dolby Atmos. Check Logitech’s A50 X product information before changing connections or output settings.

6. When the basic checks do not fix it
The official guidance establishes generation-specific software compatibility and general Atmos prerequisites, but it does not provide one complete Atmos-failure reset or firmware-recovery procedure covering every A50 generation. Avoid applying button combinations or reset steps intended for another model. Find the exact headset on Logitech’s current support pages and follow its model-specific instructions; contact Logitech support if the headset is not detected or its software does not match the published compatibility.
