If an Astra Streaming broadcast appears stuck processing on YouTube, first check whether the event is still scheduled, is receiving encoder data, or has already ended. Those states need different checks. YouTube’s published guidance covers encoder setup, stream health and archiving, but it does not specify a processing-time guarantee or a way to restart a completed broadcast’s processing. The available sources also do not establish an Astra-specific fault or workaround, so the checks below focus on YouTube’s documented workflow.
First, identify what “processing” refers to
Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and check the event state before changing equipment or settings:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Upcoming or scheduled: The event has not necessarily gone live. In YouTube’s documented encoder workflow, you wait for the encoder preview to appear in Live Control Room, then click Go live.
- Actively receiving encoder data: The encoder is sending a feed. Check the Stream health tab and any alerts for ingest or stream errors.
- Ended: The live event is over and its archive may still be processing. Encoder connection checks are not established fixes for a completed archive-processing delay.
YouTube’s encoder setup guidance says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. That describes expected archiving, not how long processing should take.
Checks for a scheduled or active broadcast
Confirm the event is actually live
For a scheduled encoder event, running the encoder alone does not complete the documented go-live sequence. Wait until the preview appears in Live Control Room and select Go live. If there is no preview, treat this as an encoder connection or start issue rather than a post-broadcast processing problem.

When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0
Verify the server URL and stream key
Confirm that the encoder is configured with the server URL and stream key for the intended YouTube event. If YouTube reports an encoder-start error, its surfaced troubleshooting guidance says to create a new stream key in Live Control Room and update the third-party encoder. This is a connection/start check; it is not documented as a fix for an archive stuck after the broadcast has ended.
Read stream health and error details
During a broadcast, inspect the Stream health tab and alerts in Live Control Room. YouTube also directs creators to stream metrics to review reported errors. Note the exact error and whether the encoder is still sending data; those details can help distinguish an ingest problem from an ended event whose archive has not finished processing.

If the broadcast ended and the archive is still processing
- Confirm the event ended cleanly. YouTube’s scheduled-stream instructions say to click End Stream and stop sending content from the encoder.
- Keep the event details. Record the video or event URL, when the stream ended, relevant stream metrics, and any error text.
- Use the current YouTube Studio help or support route if it persists. The official guidance cited here does not give a normal processing duration, a queue-restart button, or a force-archive procedure. Do not assume a particular wait time or promise that support can restart processing.
A new stream key, faster internet connection, or new capture hardware is not an established remedy for a completed broadcast’s YouTube-side processing delay. The documented key-refresh step applies to an encoder-start error.

This is a setup decision, not a treatment for an already-ended event. YouTube describes local software or hardware encoders as options for creators who want control and have a capable computer. A cloud encoder or relay can reduce local computer load, simplify operation, or help distribute a stream to more than two channels; YouTube notes these services may involve a subscription.

For simulstreaming, YouTube recommends estimating the combined target bitrate across destinations and aiming for upload capacity 1.5–2 times that total, particularly on a shared connection. Test upload capacity realistically and monitor stream health. This margin is intended to support delivery while streaming; it is not a post-stream processing benchmark.
