If an Arma Reforger server is missing from the browser, start with the client rather than the router. Clear search and restrictive filters, confirm the scenario and crossplay scope, refresh the Multiplayer browser, reopen it from the main menu, and restart the game. If the server is still absent, check mod downloads and versions. Only then investigate public visibility, UDP port forwarding, and the address a self-hosted or Docker server registers.

What “not showing up” can mean
There are two separate problems that players often describe with the same sentence:

- Listing failure: the server is running, but it does not appear in your Multiplayer browser.
- Connection failure: the server appears, but joining times out, fails immediately, or cannot complete after selecting it.
A browser omission does not automatically prove that the host is offline. Arma Reforger can present different lists to different players because of filters, platform restrictions, ping limits, region, and crossplay settings. A server can also be reachable by a direct address while its public listing is delayed or broken. Keep those cases separate as you troubleshoot.
Fast diagnosis by symptom

1. Reset the Multiplayer browser before changing the host
Bohemia Interactive says server visibility can differ according to filters, platform restrictions, ping limits, region, and crossplay settings. Two players can therefore look at the same service and receive different results. A narrow filter can make a healthy server look offline.

Clear filters and search text
- Open Multiplayer directly from the main menu.
- Remove text from the server-name search field.
- Broaden or reset region and ping limits.
- Check that the selected scenario or server type includes the server you expect. A server configured for a particular scenario will not necessarily appear under every other category.
- Review the platform and crossplay scope. If the host and player use different platforms, a crossplay restriction can hide the listing even though the server is running.
Do not diagnose the router while a search term, low ping ceiling, wrong region, or incompatible crossplay setting is still active. Record the server name and expected scenario exactly as the host configured them, because a similar name can make a successful search look unsuccessful.
Refresh from the correct menu
Bohemia’s support guidance for an empty Multiplayer browser is to wait for about a minute and select Refresh. Use that control after broadening the filters rather than repeatedly opening a filtered result.
- Stay in the Multiplayer browser for roughly one minute after opening it.
- Select Refresh.
- If the list remains empty or stale, return to the main menu and open Multiplayer again.
- Restart the game if reopening the browser does not repopulate it.
Enter through Multiplayer when searching for a particular server. Opening the game through Play, Game Master, or Scenarios can present a different selection flow and may not expose the server you are looking for.
2. Check mods before editing networking
Mod problems can prevent a server from being discovered correctly or stop a join after the listing is visible. Common causes include a server and client using different mod versions, an incomplete download, insufficient storage, or an update that left an old package in an unusable state.

Use a clean baseline
- Restart Arma Reforger and allow all pending mod downloads to finish before searching again.
- Check that the client has enough free storage for the server’s required content.
- Temporarily disable recently added or recently updated mods on the client.
- Search for and test a known vanilla server. If unmodded servers appear while the target does not, the problem is likely tied to that server’s content rather than general discovery.
- Re-enable mods in small groups, testing after each change, to identify a version conflict.
A modded server should be tested with the same content set on both sides. If the host changed a mod immediately before the server disappeared, ask the host whether the update completed and whether the server was restarted afterward. Do not keep changing port settings while the client is still downloading or rejecting required packages.
3. Confirm the server’s own visibility state
A dedicated or self-hosted instance can be running locally without being published to the wider server browser. Ask the host to verify that the server is configured as visible and that its displayed name, region, scenario, and crossplay policy match what players are searching for.

Allow time for registration
When a server first reports Online, the listing may not be immediately present for every client. Wait briefly, refresh the browser, and try again from the main menu. A single refresh result is not a reliable test immediately after startup.
Compare what two players see
Have the host and one remote player use the same broad search conditions: no name filter, a permissive ping setting, the same region selection, and the same crossplay scope. If one player sees the server and another does not, the difference is probably client discovery state rather than the server process itself.

4. Make a public self-hosted server reachable
For a server on a home or office network, local operation is not enough. Bohemia Interactive Community hosting documentation states that a hosted server must use port forwarding to be visible from outside the local network. The documented default public game port is UDP 2001. If the configuration uses another port, forward that configured value instead of assuming 2001.
Port-forwarding checklist
- Give the host computer a stable address on the local network, such as a DHCP reservation, so the forwarding rule does not point to a changing device.
- Create a router rule for the server’s configured game port and select UDP, not only TCP.
- Point the rule at the actual host machine running the server.
- Check the host operating system’s firewall and permit the server application or the same UDP port.
- Verify that the router is the device holding the public internet connection. If another router, mesh gateway, or carrier-grade NAT sits upstream, the first router’s rule may not be enough.
- Restart the server after changing the network rule, then wait for registration and refresh the browser.
Port forwarding changes exposure to the internet. Forward only the port the server uses, keep the server software updated, and remove the rule when the server is no longer needed. A forwarding rule cannot fix a wrong bind address or an incompatible mod set; it only permits traffic to reach the selected host.
5. Fix an incorrect registered address on Linux or Docker
Containerized deployments have a special failure mode. Bohemia Interactive Community documentation warns that the game server can register the Docker container’s IP for browser registration and client connections. That address is normally reachable only inside the container network, so players outside the host cannot connect even though the process reports that it is running.
What the symptom looks like
- The server process starts without an obvious crash.
- The instance may report Online or appear to be running locally.
- Remote players cannot join, or the listing is inconsistent between clients.
- Direct connection from the same host or local network may work while an outside connection fails.
Correct the address used for registration
Review the deployment’s documented bind and client-connect settings and make the server advertise an address that remote players can reach. Depending on the network design, that may be the host’s local address for a properly forwarded home server or the public-facing address supplied by the hosting environment. Do not advertise the private container address.

After changing the bind or client-connect value, recreate or restart the container, confirm the configured port, and test from a network that is not the same LAN as the server. A test from the host itself can succeed even when the public route is unusable.

The most useful diagnostic split is whether a direct connection works. Use the direct-connect option and the address and port supplied by the host, following the host’s documented format.

If direct connection succeeds while the browser omits the server, stop changing the router. The server is reachable, so the remaining fault is likely listing registration, stale discovery data, visibility configuration, or a backend problem. Capture the server name, region, scenario, start time, and the result of the direct-connect test before contacting the host or platform support.

Hosts can avoid circular troubleshooting by changing one layer at a time.
- Confirm the process: verify that the server remains running instead of exiting after startup.
- Confirm content: start with no mods or a known-good mod set, then add content back after the vanilla test.
- Confirm configuration: check visible status, server name, scenario, region, crossplay policy, and the configured game port.
- Confirm registration: wait after the Online state, refresh from a remote client, and compare results with another player.
- Confirm the address: on Linux or Docker, ensure the advertised address is not the container-only IP.
- Confirm exposure: verify UDP forwarding and the host firewall, then test from outside the local network.
- Confirm the distinction: use direct connection to decide whether the remaining fault is reachability or browser listing.
Change only one setting between tests and write down the result. Replacing mods, port numbers, router rules, and bind values simultaneously makes it impossible to know which change helped.

8. Client checklist when no servers are showing
- Open Multiplayer from the main menu.
- Clear the search box.
- Reset region and ping limits.
- Choose the correct scenario or server type.
- Review platform and crossplay restrictions.
- Wait about a minute and select Refresh.
- Return to the main menu, reopen Multiplayer, and restart the game if needed.
- Finish pending mod downloads and check free storage.
- Disable recently added mods and test a vanilla server.
- Ask the host for the exact server name, region, scenario, mod status, and direct-connect details.
9. How to decide whether to self-host or use managed hosting

Managed hosting does not remove every possible cause: an incorrect scenario, crossplay policy, mod version, or visibility setting can still hide or block a server. Its main advantage is removing home-network exposure and address-registration problems from the list of things you must operate.
10. When to escalate the problem
Contact the host or platform support after you have recorded a reproducible result rather than reporting only that the server is missing. Include:
- Whether the browser is completely empty or only omits one server.
- The filters, region, ping limit, scenario, and crossplay scope used during the test.
- The server’s exact name and whether it reports Online.
- Whether a direct connection works, fails, or works only from the local network.
- Whether the server is vanilla or modded, including any recent mod update.
- The configured UDP port and whether the server runs directly on Linux, inside Docker, or on a home router.
- The time of the test and whether refreshing or restarting changed the result.
This information distinguishes a client filter issue from a registration outage, an unreachable address, or a content mismatch. If direct connection works but listing does not, describe it as a discovery or listing problem rather than a total server outage.
Preventing the next missing-server incident
- Keep a known-good vanilla profile for testing before adding mods.
- Reserve the host’s local IP so forwarding does not silently point at another device.
- Document the configured UDP port, visible server name, region, scenario, and crossplay policy.
- After mod or server updates, wait for downloads and restart cleanly before inviting players.
- For Docker, record the intended bind and client-connect addresses and verify that they are not container-only addresses.
- Test once from outside the host’s LAN after network changes.
- Tell players to search from Multiplayer directly and to reset filters before assuming the server is offline.
Bottom line
Most Arma Reforger “missing server” reports are discovery-state problems, not dead servers. Reset filters and crossplay or region restrictions, refresh Multiplayer from the main menu, and restart before touching networking. Then eliminate mod download and version issues. For a public self-hosted server, verify visibility, forward the configured UDP port (UDP 2001 by default), and make sure Linux or Docker is not advertising an unreachable container IP. A successful direct connection proves the basic route works and narrows the remaining fault to browser registration or discovery.
