Arken Age now supports PC streaming to Steam Frame through both OpenXR and SteamVR launch options—but the October 1, 2026 update does not add native standalone play. Developer VitruviusVR says it is still weighing a standalone port against focusing its resources on its next VR title, with no decision date announced.
What the Steam Frame update changes
Version 1.008.000 added Steam Frame PC streaming support for both OpenXR and SteamVR. That means the game is streamed from a PC; it is not confirmation that Arken Age installs and runs directly on the headset. The update was released October 1, 2026, as build 25626822, according to SteamDB’s patch archive. The game’s official Steam announcement describes the feature and the rest of the patch.

Steam Frame’s additional controller buttons also let players move quick-deploy actions to the controller not used for movement. Shields and grenades can now be deployed while moving, alongside syringes; the bumpers can eject weapon batteries.

- Physical crouching now tracks headset height more closely while retaining the existing joint strength for jumps and falls.
- Stick crouching is faster.
- Enemies appear on the map in areas where killing them is required.
- Brute melee hit detection has been improved to make blocking more reliable.
- Tutorials give clearer guidance for crafting weapon mods and purchasing from vending machines.
Does Arken Age run natively on Steam Frame?
The update confirms PC streaming support, not a native Steam Frame version. Streaming and standalone play are different: streaming sends the PC game to the headset, while a standalone port would be a separate version that runs on the headset itself. VitruviusVR has not announced that it is making such a port.

The distinction matters for players whose concern is that the game “will not install on Steam Frame,” or who want to try it standalone. The patch addresses streaming support; it does not establish that native installation is available.

In its October 1 update post, the studio said: “Currently we are deciding whether to dedicate our resources to a Steam Frame Standalone port or to continue having 100% focus on building our next VR title.” The statement presents an unresolved resource choice, not a commitment to port the game. The post gives no decision date.

For context, Steam describes Arken Age as a VR action-adventure set in the Bio-Chasm, a terraformed fantasy world, with physics combat using Arkenite-infused swords and guns.
