To use admin commands in ARK: Survival Ascended, open the console with ~ (or ` on some keyboard layouts), authenticate on a multiplayer server with enablecheats <ServerAdminPassword>, then run commands with the cheat or admincheat prefix. Single-player games do not require password authentication. This guide lists the most useful player, movement, creature, item, server and moderation commands, with the limitations and syntax conflicts you should check before using them on a live world.

Get admin access first
Single-player
Pause the game and open the command console with the tilde key (~). On some keyboard layouts the backtick key (`) opens it instead. In single-player, you can enter commands directly; enablecheats is not required. The console key and command behavior can change with patches, so confirm that the console actually opened before troubleshooting a command.

- Open the console with ~ or, where applicable, `.
- Enter
enablecheats <ServerAdminPassword>, replacing the placeholder with the exact value configured asServerAdminPasswordon the server. - Run administrative commands with
cheatoradmincheatin front of the command. For example, cheat godoradmincheat SaveWorld.
If authentication succeeds but a command is rejected, check that you used the multiplayer prefix and that the password has no extra spaces. The ARK Official Community Wiki command reference documents the current command forms and flags some entries as only partially working in ASA.
Whitelisting an administrator
Server owners can whitelist an administrator by that account’s 32-character alphanumeric EOS ID. A whitelisted administrator can use cheat commands without entering the admin password every time. Keep the identifier type straight: EOS IDs are used for the documented whitelist workflow, while some moderation guides describe Steam IDs for kick and ban commands. Because that identifier conflict is not resolved consistently across references, verify the ID format accepted by your server build before applying moderation commands.

Syntax rules that prevent most mistakes
| Situation | What to enter | Important detail |
|---|---|---|
| Single-player | god, fly, GMSummon ... |
No enablecheats step is needed. |
| Multiplayer after authentication | cheat god or admincheat god |
Use a prefix on each administrative command. |
| Text with spaces or a blueprint name | Use quotation marks where the command syntax shows them. | For example, cheat GMSummon "Rex_Character_BP_C" 150. |
| Targeted commands | Aim at the player or creature first. | The command may affect the entity under your crosshair rather than your character. |
Command names are shown with the capitalization used in the references; enter them exactly as displayed when diagnosing a failure. Argument order is not universal between guides, particularly for GFI and moderation commands. If a command executes but produces the wrong item or target, compare the syntax with the per-command entry on the community wiki rather than repeatedly guessing.
Player and survival commands
God mode and infinite resources
| Command | Effect | Limit or usage note |
|---|---|---|
god |
Blocks combat damage to your character. | One command guide reports that it does not prevent drowning. Pair it with infinitestats when you need full survival meters. |
InfiniteStats |
Keeps health, food, water, oxygen and weight full. | Use it separately if you need protection from survival depletion in addition to god. |
fly |
Lets your character fly. | Use walk to return to normal ground movement. |
walk |
Disables flight and returns you to walking. | If you are trapped in terrain, use ghost first, move clear, then walk. |
ghost |
Allows passage through terrain and structures. | Turn it off by using walk; otherwise you can remain able to pass through objects. |
These commands are toggles or persistent state changes in practice, so check your status before assuming a second command is needed. A typical temporary exploration sequence is cheat god, cheat InfiniteStats, cheat fly; finish with cheat walk when you want ordinary movement again.

Creative mode and progression
GCM(also calledGiveCreativeMode) toggles Creative Mode. Related variants areGiveCreativeModeToTargetandGiveCreativeModeToPlayer.- One guide describes GCM as combining god mode, flight, infinite statistics and instant crafting. The community wiki presents the command as a Creative Mode toggle, so the two descriptions do not fully agree. Test it in a disposable world before relying on a particular combination of effects.
addexperience <amount>grants the specified amount of experience. Enter a numeric amount appropriate for your character; the command does not by itself explain how the game distributes levels after the grant.giveengramsunlocks all engrams.ResetSkillsresets your character’s skills, allowing a new allocation.
Because Creative Mode behavior has conflicting descriptions between current guides, do not use it as a substitute for a known, reversible command on a live character unless you have verified the result on your exact ASA version.
Movement, coordinates and player targeting
Teleporting yourself
setplayerpos X Y Zmoves your character to numeric world coordinates. ReplaceX,YandZwith the destination values.tpcoords latitude longitude altitudeteleports using map latitude, longitude and altitude values.
Coordinate systems are map-dependent. Keep a known safe coordinate or make a backup before testing unfamiliar values; an incorrect destination can place a character inside terrain or outside a playable area.

Finding and moving to another player
- Run
cheat ListPlayersto display connected players and their identifiers. The wiki documents this capitalization and form. - Copy the target player’s ID exactly.
- Use the player-teleport command with that ID:
teleporttoplayer <playerID>.
Do not substitute a display name when the command expects an ID. If the command does nothing, rerun ListPlayers and verify that the player is still connected and that you copied the identifier without punctuation or spaces.
Creature spawning, taming and cleanup
Spawn a wild or tamed creature
| Command | What it does | Example |
|---|---|---|
Summon <blueprint> |
Creates a wild creature at the point you are aiming. | cheat Summon "Rex_Character_BP_C" |
GMSummon <blueprint> <level> |
Creates a tamed creature at the specified level. | cheat GMSummon "Rex_Character_BP_C" 150 |
The blueprint string must match the creature’s internal blueprint name. Aim at an open location before spawning so the new creature is not embedded in a wall, ceiling or another tame. If a blueprint from an older ARK: Survival Evolved list fails, look for the ASA-specific entry; the Fandom console page covers ASE rather than ASA and should not be treated as an ASA command catalog.

Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Taming commands
ForceTameinstantly tames the creature under your crosshair.DoTametames an eligible conscious creature in front of you.
Both commands are target-sensitive. Place the crosshair on the intended creature, avoid aiming through a nearby tame, and confirm the creature is conscious when using DoTame. If the wrong animal changes ownership, there is no command-level undo described for these actions; restore a backup or correct the ownership manually.
Removing or freezing creatures
| Command | Scope and result | What happens afterward |
|---|---|---|
DestroyWildDinos |
Removes all wild creatures. | Wild creatures respawn over time; this is not a permanent population change. |
DestroyAllEnemies |
Removes non-player creatures. | New creatures can spawn again. Treat it as a one-time cleanup. |
DestroyAllTames |
Removes all tamed creatures. | This is destructive and should be reserved for a deliberately disposable world or a verified backup. |
CryoMyTarget |
Puts the creature you are looking at into a new cryopod. | Confirm the crosshair target before executing. |
PlayersOnly |
Stops creature movement and crafting. | Run it again to turn the freeze off. |
Use SaveWorld before any mass command. A cleanup command can affect an entire map, and respawn behavior means you should not use it expecting a permanent change to the ecosystem.

Giving items
GFI by short name
GFI gives an item by its short name and accepts quantity, quality and a blueprint flag. The references disagree about the exact argument order, so do not assume that a syntax copied from one guide will map directly to another. Check the command’s current entry on the community wiki, then test with one item and a small quantity:
cheat GFI <shortName> <quantity> <quality> <blueprintFlag>
The placeholder order above reflects the commonly documented fields, not a guarantee that every ASA build parses them identically. If you receive the wrong item, a blueprint instead of a finished item, or an unexpected quality, stop and verify the order for your build rather than increasing the quantity.
GiveItemNum by numeric ID
GiveItemNum uses a numeric item ID instead of a short name. This is useful when the short-name lookup is ambiguous, but it requires the correct ID for the ASA item you want. Use the same small-test approach and confirm the resulting item before issuing a large quantity.
Server saves, messaging and moderation
Protect the world before changes
SaveWorldforces an immediate save. Run it before mass destruction, bulk item grants, teleport experiments or configuration changes.SaveBackupis described by one guide as an ASA-only command that creates an additional manual backup. Because this claim comes from a single secondary source, verify that your server build recognizes it before relying on it as your only recovery method.
A save is not the same as a rollback. Keep an independent server backup when the host supports one, especially before DestroyAllTames or other irreversible commands.

Communicate with everyone
Broadcast <message> sends a message to all players. Put the message after the command and use quotation marks if your server’s parser requires them for spaces. Broadcast a maintenance warning before a world save or a disruptive administrative action so connected players understand what is happening.
Kick, ban and unban
| Command | Purpose | Identifier warning |
|---|---|---|
KickPlayer <ID> |
Removes a player from the server. | Some guides call the value a SteamID. |
BanPlayer <ID> |
Bans a player. | Confirm whether your server expects a Steam ID or another identifier before executing. |
UnbanPlayer <ID> |
Reverses a ban. | Use the same identifier format accepted by the ban command on your server. |
The Steam-ID wording in hosting guides conflicts with the EOS-ID workflow documented for whitelisting. No single source in the available references resolves that discrepancy for every platform and server build. Record the identifier displayed by your server’s player list and test moderation on a consenting test account before using it during an incident.
Open the administrator panel
ShowMyAdminManager opens the in-game administrator panel. It can be more practical than memorizing a command when you need to inspect available administrative controls, but the panel’s contents can change with ASA updates. If it fails to open, confirm that you authenticated as an administrator and that the console accepted the command prefix.
Map-specific and partially supported commands
FindMutagenDrops is map-limited: the documented command works only on Genesis: Part 2. Running it on another map is expected to fail or return nothing; it is not a general drop-finder for every ASA map.
The community wiki marks some console commands as partially working in ASA. A command retained from ASE may still appear in lists while behaving differently, accepting different arguments or doing nothing after a patch. The ARK Fandom console page is specifically an ASE reference, not an authoritative ASA compatibility list.
Why a command may fail
No response or “not recognized”
- On multiplayer, prepend
cheatoradmincheatand authenticate again withenablecheats <ServerAdminPassword>. - Check the console key. On some layouts, ` works where ~ does not.
- Compare capitalization, spaces and quotation marks with the current wiki syntax.
- Check whether the command is map-specific, such as
FindMutagenDrops, or marked as partially working in ASA.
The wrong target changes
Move the crosshair directly onto the intended creature or player, step away from nearby entities, and rerun the command. This matters for ForceTame, DoTame, CryoMyTarget and target-specific Creative Mode variants.

The result is wrong despite a successful message
Suspect argument order first. GFI fields are documented differently by different guides, and moderation commands may expect different ID types. Test with a single item or a non-destructive account before repeating the command at scale.
A destructive action needs reversing
Commands such as DestroyAllTames do not have a documented undo. If you saved immediately before the action, use the server’s verified restore procedure; otherwise, recovery may require restoring an external backup or rebuilding the affected assets.
A safe operating checklist
- Test the command in single-player or on a private server first.
- Authenticate once on multiplayer with the exact
ServerAdminPassword, then use thecheatoradmincheatprefix. - Run
SaveWorldbefore mass commands, teleport experiments or large item grants. - Use the least destructive command that solves the problem: for example, tame one target instead of deleting all wild creatures.
- Record player IDs before moderation and verify whether the server expects Steam or EOS identifiers.
- After a patch, retest commands that matter to your server. Command names, argument parsing and ASA support can change.
For a maintained reference, start with the per-command entries and ASA compatibility notes on the ARK Official Community Wiki. It is user-edited rather than published by Studio Wildcard, so treat its partial-support labels and any unverified syntax as a prompt to test safely, not as a promise that every command works on every platform.
