Yes, a screen on an earbud case can be useful if it lets you check information or change settings you regularly use without opening a phone app. For everyone else, it may add little: the display does not by itself make earbuds sound better, fit better or cancel more noise.
What can an earbud case screen do?
Functions differ by model. Common uses described in independent coverage include checking battery status, noise-control mode and volume, and changing settings such as EQ. The practical point is fewer trips into a companion app when you want to check or adjust something.

Who is likely to find the screen useful?
It may suit frequent adjusters
If you often check battery status, change noise control or adjust other settings, having those controls on the case may save time and keep your phone in your pocket. The benefit depends on whether the particular screen exposes the controls and information you actually want.

It may not matter to app-light users
If you rarely change settings and are happy using a phone app when needed, a case display may not improve your routine. This is a practical inference from the listed functions and reviewer discussion, not a result established by a controlled user study.
Does the screen make the earbuds a better buy?
Not on its own. Compare fit, sound, noise cancellation, call quality and battery life alongside the case controls. A display is not evidence that the earbuds perform better in any of those areas. Also weigh the product’s price and how comfortable its case is to carry; comparisons between specific models are needed to establish their actual cost or size differences.

What to check before choosing one
- Useful controls: Check whether the screen offers the settings you actually use, rather than mainly displaying information you seldom need.
- Earbud performance: Compare fit, sound, noise cancellation, calls and battery life independently of the case display.
- Everyday trade-offs: Decide whether the convenience is worth the product’s price and the case’s carrying feel for you; do not assume every screen-equipped case is bigger, heavier or costlier than a screen-free alternative.
Remember that case features can change
Case functions may evolve through software updates. JBL’s Tour Pro 3 support notes list charging-case software version 5.3.0, dated April 15, 2026, and describe an update to Find My Buds.
