A September 24, 2026, case study by Harun, HYNAWEB’s Founder & CEO, says the company operates four products using that approach. The post reports the design and its performance and cost claims, but does not provide independent verification, traffic figures or a technical audit.
What “zero traditional servers” means in this case study
Harun’s phrase describes avoiding traditional servers that HYNAWEB operates and maintains itself. The architecture still depends on infrastructure: a managed database and authentication service, external AI inference providers, and edge platforms. Some image processing is said to run in users’ browsers. In other words, the work is delegated to managed services, functions that run when needed, and client devices—not eliminated.

The case study names four products: KODA, an AI coding mentor; Dojo Feed, a gamified developer social network; KODA Code Jam, a seven-day build tournament; and APIC, an image-processing suite delivered via partner Akhouri Systems. Harun describes them as live and serving a global user base. The post gives no user counts, geographic breakdown, uptime data or independent confirmation of that reach.

Managed data and identity
The post says persistent data runs on managed PostgreSQL through Supabase, with managed authentication and row-level security (RLS). Dojo Feed uses realtime subscriptions for leaderboards. This shifts database operations and identity management to a service provider; it does not remove the need to design access policies or manage the service relationship.

External AI inference
KODA is described as routing inference requests primarily through Groq, with OpenRouter as a fallback. The case study says requests record a model_served field for provider reliability analytics. This design avoids operating a dedicated GPU server, but it still depends on external inference APIs and incurs usage-based costs.
Request-triggered edge functions
Harun names Vercel and Cloudflare Workers for webhooks, key protection and request validation. The post says functions deploy on a Git push and scale to zero when idle. It also claims “sub-100ms” responses across global regions, but gives no measurement method, latency distribution or benchmark. Treat that figure as the author’s report, not a general performance guarantee.

Image processing in the browser
APIC is described as using WebAssembly and on-device AI segmentation for image processing, avoiding media uploads. The post does not document the implementation or establish that every processing path avoids uploads. Whether client-side processing is suitable depends on what the application handles and what happens to data in every workflow.
What the cost comparison does—and does not—show
The case study contrasts traditional infrastructure estimates with managed or usage-based alternatives. Harun presents these as illustrative figures, not actual HYNAWEB bills or a like-for-like comparison.

| Cost area | Traditional estimate in the post | Alternative described |
|---|---|---|
| Database | $25–100 per month | Managed free-tier/pay-per-use service |
| Authentication | Custom auth and maintenance | Managed auth at $0 |
| AI inference | $100+ per month for GPU inference | No fixed GPU cost; per-token usage |
| Image-processing bandwidth | Not given as a separate traditional cost | $0 in the post’s comparison |
| DevOps overhead | Not quantified | None in the post’s comparison |
The post gives no region, workload, traffic level, vendor pricing date, usage assumptions or bills behind these estimates. They should not be read as current market rates, proof of HYNAWEB’s savings, or a prediction of what another project will pay. A meaningful comparison would need traffic and workload, storage and egress, inference volume, region, latency and reliability targets, security requirements, and actual bills.

Harun lists RLS as the primary authorization boundary, environment-variable secret storage in edge functions, client-side media processing and ongoing internal checks for insecure AI code suggestions. The author argues that database-layer security cannot be bypassed by a compromised frontend. RLS can provide an important independent enforcement layer, but the case study does not demonstrate that claim as a universal guarantee. The strength of such a design depends on correctly configured policies and how credentials and requests are handled.
What is planned for Q4 2026
The September 24, 2026, post labels three items as roadmap work, not shipped features:
- Move all inference calls behind Cloudflare Workers for key isolation.
- Add edge-cached leaderboard reads, with an estimated 70% reduction in database load. This is a projection, not a measured result.
- Publish monthly infrastructure cost-transparency reports.
How to read the founder’s claims
The post also says Harun was 12 and built on a $150 Android phone. These are self-reported details; the post names no phone model and supplies no receipt or independent confirmation. They are an anecdote about the founder’s stated circumstances, not evidence of the architecture’s cost, performance or reliability.
Harun’s summary is: “The server is dead. The architecture is the product.” Read it as a statement of the case study’s design philosophy. The article does not establish global scale, near-zero total cost or security guarantees. Its practical contribution is a description of how a small product ecosystem can combine managed data services, external inference, edge functions and browser-side work while avoiding self-operated traditional servers.
