What classes and combat details have been announced?
Gender-locked classes at Early Access
In a September 2026 update, Executive Producer Ham Yongjin said gender-locked classes will remain in place at Early Access. The team is still considering whether character-gender choice might expand later; the update does not enumerate the classes or promise that the restriction will change. The announcement appears in the official ArcheAge Chronicles Steam announcements.

Action-oriented combat, without a published skill guide
The announced combat direction includes combos, elemental attacks, defensive tactics, and maneuverability. Ham described the goal this way: “Our current priority is to further refine combat and class design while providing a diverse range of gameplay experiences.” This is a statement of development priorities, not an independently tested description of how combat currently performs.
An earlier PlayStation.Blog overview also describes coordinated chain skills in raid combat. Its reference to teams of ten or more concerns large raid-boss encounters; it is not a confirmed PvP group size.

What is known about progression and its effect on PvP?
Not enough has been published to say how progression affects player-versus-player encounters. XLGAMES Global Project Manager Don said in a September 2026 update that “The core of the game is here: the combat, the world, exploration, lifeskills, multiplayer.” The update also lists progression and PvP among the systems the team plans to explain further, indicating that important details remain under development.
