The “Outdated Game Client” error in ARC Raiders usually means the game installed on your device does not match the version its servers currently accept. Fully close the game, check your platform’s update queue, and install any pending patch before launching again. If no update is offered, the rollout or server synchronization may still be catching up; reinstalling cannot make an unreleased update appear.
Fix the error in this order
- Close ARC Raiders completely. Do not leave it suspended or in console Quick Resume. Restart Steam, Epic Games Launcher, or your console so it can refresh its update status.
- Check for a queued or paused update. On PC, inspect the launcher’s Downloads area. On console, open the downloads or updates queue. Resume any ARC Raiders download and let both downloading and installation finish; files may still be applying after the download indicator changes.
- Launch the game again. If the error remains after all available updates have installed, use the platform-specific checks below.
The error does not by itself mean your account, PC, or console is broken. A Steam player described seeing the message despite believing both the game and launcher were updated, illustrating why it is worth checking the actual queue and installation state. Pocket Tactics reported that player question; it is a user post, not an official statement.

Check for updates on your platform
Steam
- Open Library → Downloads and start or resume any ARC Raiders update.
- After the download and installation finish, launch the game. If the error persists, open ARC Raiders → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files.
Verification checks the files Steam recognizes and may repair missing or damaged local files. It cannot make a newer patch available if Steam has not published it for your platform.

- Exit Epic Games Launcher fully, including from the system tray, then reopen it.
- Open the Library and look for an Update button for ARC Raiders.
- If the game is up to date but the message remains, open the game’s three-dot menu → Manage → Verify.
PlayStation 5
- Close ARC Raiders.
- Highlight the game on the home screen, press Options, then choose Check for Update.
- Resume any queued item in Downloads/Uploads and wait for installation to complete before relaunching.
Xbox Series X|S
- Open Manage game & add-ons → Updates, or check the console’s Downloads/updates queue.
- Resume any queued or paused patch and wait for installation to finish.
- Fully close and relaunch ARC Raiders.
Menu names can vary with platform software revisions. These steps use each platform’s built-in update and file-check tools; they do not require a special command or third-party utility. The cross-platform steps are also outlined by CloudsPress and Pocket Tactics.

If there is no update to install
If your platform reports no available update, the patch may not yet have reached that storefront or console, or server deployment may be catching up with a platform release. Check again later rather than repeatedly reinstalling. Verification and reinstalling can repair local files, but neither can create a patch that has not been published to your platform. The available guides do not establish a current accepted build number or a platform-specific release schedule, so there is no reliable version number or wait time to give here.
When a party or cross-play group gets the error
Have each player close ARC Raiders fully and check the update queue on their own platform. One person may still be on an older installed build even if another player’s game is current. Everyone should relaunch only after their available updates finish; if one platform has no update yet, the group may need to wait for rollout and server recognition.

If your platform shows its latest available update installed, verification completes on PC, and a fresh launch still displays the error, more local repair may not help. A platform rollout or server synchronization delay remains a plausible cause. Reinstall only as a last resort if you suspect the local installation is damaged—not as a fix for an update that has not been released. CloudsPress’ guide likewise advises against making reinstallation the first step.
