In an official development update dated May 13, 2026, Embark said it was replacing its planned monthly major-update cadence with two major updates per year. Executive producer Aleksander Grøndal said the larger releases are intended to be “more impactful” and to “genuinely change how you play the game.” Embark said the monthly cycle constrained how impactful updates could be and was not sustainable alongside its ambitions for the game.

The studio identified progression and economy balancing, fair play, and anti-cheat as areas where more development time could be invested. Its announcement described Frozen Trail as an October 2026 release and previewed a new landscape, ARC enemies, progression changes, and other additions; that announcement is a plan, not confirmation that those features have shipped.
What continues between major updates?
Embark said a dedicated live-service team would keep running the game day to day. The studio specifically listed regular live updates, balance fixes, bug fixes, store updates, and player events as continuing between major releases.

Does taking a break mean players will miss out?
The official schedule provides a reason to expect major content less often than monthly, but Embark also says events and other live updates will continue. A player who steps away may miss time-limited events or changes that happen while they are gone; the May 13 announcement does not specify event dates, duration, or whether past events will return. Check current in-game notices for details before deciding whether to skip a particular event.
