No skill tree allocation has been proven best for Frozen Trail yet. The most defensible starting point for Frozen Trail 2.0, which went live on October 8, 2026, is a movement-first split of 31 Mobility, 14 Survival, and 31 Conditioning points. Arc Raiders Hub published that template in an early-access guide written from the pre-release tree, and it labels the recommendation as very early. Use it as a launch-week template for Pendola Pass, then swap branches depending on whether you value looting, carrying capacity, or combat utility more.
What Frozen Trail 2.0 changed
Embark Studios’ official 2.0 update notes list the content that matters for planning a build:

- Map: Pendola Pass, with map conditions called Frigate and Redirection.
- Enemies: the Bully, the Skulker, and the Hydra.
- Weapons: the Bantam and Stiletto, plus Amplified Weapons.
- Skills: a revamped skill tree.
- Tools and traversal: the Grappling Hook, cameras, Tether Launcher, Yank Grenade, and Mountaineer’s Detector.
- Other additions: musical instruments, an Outpost and Research Bench, and other progression changes.
- Pass: the Frozen Trail Pass has 60 levels across Free and Premium tracks.
Embark’s live announcement on October 8 places Pendola Pass beyond the Rust Belt and describes the downed Emperor and the ARC response around it. It calls the Bully a forceful threat, the Skulker a stalking enemy, and the Hydra a squad-killer that protects the Emperor and the Frigate. It recommends preparing with new skills and gear, including Tethers and the Grapple Hook.
Embark’s August pre-launch announcement described a harsh frozen settlement among mountains, with villages, factories, research facilities, and an observatory, and said the level design emphasized verticality, exploration, and discovery. That is a statement of design intent made before launch, so the live notes are the reference for what the map contains now.

How the reworked tree limits your choices
The revamp changes how build decisions work, so understand these rules before allocating points:
- Middle branch: you choose one of two skills. You can change that choice again only after resetting the skill tree.
- Branch ends: two nodes offer a choice from three skills. After the required investment, you can select up to two.
- Unlock gates: Arc Raiders Hub reports that the middle diamond opens at 10 points in its track and the two end diamonds open at 30 and 40 points. These are guide-reported gates, so confirm them in the in-game tree before you commit points.
Embark says it expects further tweaks as it observes how players use the revamp. Treat any specific value in this article as a launch-week figure.

The launch-week template
Arc Raiders Hub’s early-access guide, dated October 8, 2026, uses 76 points in total. Its principle is “Move first, loot well, then commit.”

| Branch | Points | What the route takes | What it stops short of |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mobility | 31 | Stamina, climbing and vaulting, scrambling up steep slopes, a no-stamina-cost vault choice, Marathon Runner, and Swift Start, ending at Sprinting on Fumes | Wall Run and In the Flow at the same branch end |
| Survival | 14 | Early loot skills | The branch capstone |
| Conditioning | 31 | Carry-related skills and the Security Breach capstone, which the guide says requires 30 Conditioning points | Not stated in the guide |
| Total | 76 | A template for a starting character, not a tested optimum | |
Why this suits Pendola Pass
Embark describes Pendola Pass as vertical and exploratory, and the template front-loads movement and stamina before adding looting utility. Players who find themselves exposed during traversal may value that emphasis. This is a reasoned fit between the map’s design and the build, not measured proof of safer extractions or higher win rates. No published statistic in the reviewed material quantifies a build’s performance on Pendola Pass.

Mobility options at the 30-point branch end
PC Gamer’s Morgan Park lists three Mobility choices at the 30-point branch end. The template takes Sprinting on Fumes, so compare it with the other two options:
- Sprinting on Fumes: prevents stamina from fully draining while you sprint.
- Wall Run: lets you run a few steps up a wall.
- In the Flow: rewards chained mobility moves with speed and stamina-cost benefits.
What to swap by playstyle
Rather than ranking branches, match your build to the play you do most often. The trade-offs below come from the guide’s own priorities and the official tree rules.
Rank #4
- Capture and Tame Dinosaurs: Discover over 100 different dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures on the island, finding ways to tame them into useful additions for your tribe's dyno herd
- Survive Above All: Hunger, thirst, basic safety, and protecting yourself from the weather are all part of the game
- Harvest, Hunt and Build: Cut down trees and turn them into a basic home, which you can quickly expand into a Jurassic estate. Hunt for meat, scavenge for plants (or start your own garden!)
- Customize Everything: An extensive crafting system invites you to mix and match materials scavenged from the island, while also modifying the colors, textures, shapes, and styles
- Explore the Island: Solve the mystery of The ARK as you explore this massive island, discovering Explorer's Notebooks (filled with clues!) throughout
| Your priority | Where to lean | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Traversal and stamina on steep terrain | Stay in Mobility and take the Sprinting on Fumes route, or pick Wall Run or In the Flow at the 30-point end if you chain moves | Each end choice is a pick from three; you cannot take all of them |
| Looting and field utility | Push further into Survival for early loot skills | Less Mobility depth; the guide does not claim this threshold is optimal |
| Carrying more | Move deeper into Conditioning, where the guide reports the carry skills now sit | Fewer points for movement; verify the current skill descriptions in-game before relying on their effects |
| Combat utility or access | Conditioning, including Security Breach, which the guide reports is a Conditioning capstone | The guide does not state the combat effects, so check them in the tree before you commit |
If you change your mind, a middle-branch choice can be made again after a reset, but a binary pick requires that reset to change.

What early hands-on reporting can and cannot support
PC Gamer’s Morgan Park reported three hours with the update. The Grapple Hook expanded movement options, but it required trial and error: ropes could snag, fail to grab a ledge, or slide off a large machine. Park did not thoroughly test the Tether Launcher or the Yank Grenade. Park also wrote that the new abilities did not change how the author played during that brief preview. Sprinting for longer felt useful, while many nodes remained incremental stat boosts.

What Embark has said about the revamp
Embark’s official 2.0 update notes state the purpose of the change: “The goal of the Skill Tree revamp is twofold: to look at under-performing skills, modify or replace them, and to get closer to the goal of making choice and expression a more core feature of the Skill Tree.”
In its August 12 announcement, executive producer Aleksander Grøndal wrote: “One lesson that’s continued to shape our thinking is that the most rewarding raids are driven by meaningful choices.” That is a general design principle rather than an endorsement of any specific allocation.
