Nexon has partnered with Chernin Entertainment to develop film and television adaptations of both ARC Raiders and THE FINALS. Chernin is the lead producer, but Nexon has not said which game will get a film or series, or announced a cast, release date, writer, director, or distributor. Early fan reactions reported online mix interest with jokes and skepticism.
What Nexon announced
In an announcement published October 6, 2026, Nexon said Chernin Entertainment was selected from multiple production companies and studios competing for adaptation rights. Chernin will lead production of film and television adaptations of Embark Studios’ two games, with Embark’s creative teams expected to work closely with Chernin.

That wording covers both properties and both media collectively. It does not assign a specific format to either title: readers cannot yet say that ARC Raiders is the film while THE FINALS is the series, or that each game is getting both. Nexon’s announcement and contemporaneous coverage also provide no project-specific release date, cast, writer, director, or distributor. Embark founder and CEO Patrick Söderlund described the deal as “the next big step in growing ARC Raiders and THE FINALS into deeply integrated transmedia experiences that reward the passion of our global player community.” He also said Embark’s creative teams would work with Chernin so the defining creativity of both properties carries into new formats. Chernin film president David Ready called them “ambitious global IP” with potential across film and television. The English quotations were published by GamesRadar+ alongside the announcement.

Why the games could lead to very different stories
ARC Raiders: survival on a hostile Earth
ARC Raiders is set on a dangerous post-apocalyptic Earth where Raiders scavenge while facing hostile machines. Its surface-world threats, scavenging premise, and human refuge underground provide a ready-made setting for a survival story. An adaptation could explore that world and its people, but no particular plot or format has been announced.
THE FINALS: combat as entertainment
THE FINALS is framed as a virtual combat game show. That premise could support a story about contestants, the production behind the spectacle, or the world outside the simulation. Those are possible directions suggested by the game’s setup, not confirmed adaptation plans.
The contrast matters: these are not interchangeable settings simply because they come from the same developer. Any screen version would need to decide what makes its game distinctive and how to turn that premise into a sustained story.

What the audience figures do—and do not—show
Nexon reported that ARC Raiders had sold 16 million copies globally. For THE FINALS, Nexon reported more than 30 million cumulative registered users. These are different measures: registered users are not the same as active players, and the registration total should not be compared directly with copies sold.
Nexon also reported separate peak-concurrency figures for ARC Raiders: 250,000 concurrent Steam players on launch day and more than 700,000 peak concurrent players across all platforms within two weeks of launch. Those peaks measure simultaneous players, not sales or unique users. The figures provide context for the games’ reach, but do not establish that a screen adaptation is guaranteed to succeed.
