Vibe Drummer

What Vibe Drummer is

Vibe Drummer is a free AI-powered drum pattern generator for macOS. Users can describe a rhythm in plain English, sketch kick and snare patterns, or provide a MIDI file as a reference for generated hi-hats, fills, and accents. Patterns export as standard MIDI for use in a DAW; the site names Logic Pro, Ableton, and FL Studio as compatible. Vibe Drummer is free for everyone, with no ads or in-app payments, and supports unlimited patterns when users bring their own AI key. Prompts go from the user’s computer directly to the chosen AI provider using that key; named providers include OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Ollama. The maker says it does not collect API keys, MIDI content, prompts, chat content, personal information, or file system data. Drum patterns, chat history, and settings are stored locally, and anonymous usage analytics are optional and adjustable in settings. The download requires macOS 11 or later on Apple Silicon. Stem export is not available.

Who it suits

Vibe Drummer suits Mac users who want to generate drum parts from written prompts, sketches, or MIDI references and use them in a DAW. It is aimed at people willing to bring their own AI key.

Limits

Unlimited patterns require your own AI key. The app runs on macOS 11 or later on Apple Silicon and does not offer stem export.

Getting started

1. Open the Vibe Drummer website.
2. Download the app for macOS 11 or later on Apple Silicon.
3. Provide your own AI key for unlimited pattern generation.
4. Describe a groove, sketch kick and snare, or add a MIDI reference.
5. Export the result as standard MIDI and drag it into a DAW.

Verdict

Vibe Drummer offers several ways to shape a drum pattern and export it as MIDI, at no charge. Its platform requirement and own-key model are important constraints to check before downloading.
