Instead of Obsidian

Obsidian alternatives

Obsidian centers on a collection of local Markdown notes that remain available offline. Internal links feed its Graph view, while Canvas lets you arrange notes, attachments, and web pages in an open space. Core and community plugins, themes, an API, and a browser Web Clipper give users ways to shape the workspace. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, with an extension also available. The basic app is free; Sync starts at $5 a month, Publish at $10 a month, and the optional Commercial license is $50 a year.

The alternatives here serve different needs: reading protected documents or compressing and packing executables. None provides Obsidian’s linked-note workspace, local Markdown collection, or note-focused Canvas. Consider whether your priority is document access, smaller executable files, or resistance to reverse engineering, then check operating system and file-format support. Runtime behavior also matters: some tools run compressed programs as before, while others use loaders or temporary extraction. If connected notes are still the main goal, Obsidian’s free plan may suit better; choose a replacement when its narrower task is more important.
