Money & Life is a free web program for financial well-being, open to people in the U.S. whether or not they are Capital One customers. It combines self-guided exercises, on-demand workshop videos, and one-on-one mentoring. Virtual exercises take about 5–10 minutes and help participants divide financial goals into smaller steps and consider spending trade-offs; workshop videos are also 5–10 minutes. Participants can book up to three free mentoring sessions, each approximately one hour, virtually or at Capital One Cafés. Capital One-certified mentors help participants clarify goals and form a plan. The program is not financial advising, and mentors are not financial advisors, tax experts, or accountants. Participants must be at least 18 to book mentoring. Exercises and workshops can be completed on a smartphone, tablet, or desktop. Mentors do not use spreadsheets, account information, or other financial information during sessions, and they do not bring up Capital One products or services. The program covers spending, saving, financial goals, money and values, and communication about money.
