Mission US is a free educational project that teaches U.S. history through interactive stories. Players make choices that show how ordinary people experienced historical events. It is designed especially for middle school students in grades 5–8, both in classrooms and beyond. Educator guides provide historical context, activities, discussion starters and further reading. Teachers can use the dashboard to create classes and student accounts, follow progress and review in-game data. Tracking is limited to accounts created through the dashboard; accounts made separately cannot be linked. Access options include web streaming, PC and Mac downloads, Chromebook apps, iPad apps and a Windows 10 app for Up from the Dust. Flight to Freedom does not have a streaming version. Full game access requires registration. The history content is developed with historians from the American Social History Project/Center for Media & Learning at CUNY Graduate Center. The service does not include third-party or targeted advertising.
