Instead of CacheGuard-OS
CacheGuard-OS alternatives
CacheGuard-OS turns a Linux machine into a network appliance, combining firewalling with IPsec VPN, web application protection, antivirus inspection, content caching and traffic shaping. It can run on bare metal or virtual machines, and administrators can configure it through a CLI or browser-based Web GUI. A Manager can oversee multiple Gateways, while multi-WAN routing can fail over when a connection is unavailable. The free plan has no end date, but capacity is chosen during setup; exceeding that capacity can slow or block traffic. URL blacklists and extended antivirus signatures are optional subscriptions, and Standard and Premium support require paid subscriptions.

Alternatives may fit better when the need is narrower or centered on another environment: a Windows firewall, Ubuntu firewall interface, cloud-wide policy control, or centralized firewall administration. Compare the systems each product can manage and the security tasks it covers. CacheGuard-OS combines network functions that these alternatives may not provide, while products focused on one operating system or policy management may not replace its VPN, caching, WAF and traffic-shaping roles. Also consider whether you need appliance deployment, multi-Gateway management, or capacity-based installation before switching.
