Applitools Eyes vs Percy: Costs for Indian Startups

Percy has the lower published paid entry price, but its screenshot allowances are not directly comparable with Applitools checkpoints—and neither price confirms an Indian landed cost.

Percy has the lower published paid entry price; Applitools Eyes’ public Starter plan costs more but uses a different allowance, so the headline figures are not directly comparable. BrowserStack lists Percy Desktop at $199 per month billed annually for 10,000 screenshots per month. Applitools lists Starter at $667 per month paid annually for 100,000 component checkpoints or 1,000 page checkpoints. Neither figure establishes an Indian startup’s final rupee cost: confirm currency, taxes, exchange-rate handling, annual commitment and any negotiated discount with each vendor.

Published prices: Percy starts lower

The figures below are vendor-published prices and plan details on pages accessed October 3, 2026. Prices and packaging can change, so verify the live plan pages before budgeting. The USD prices should not be read as confirmed Indian checkout totals.

Sources: Applitools pricing, BrowserStack pricing and BrowserStack App Percy billing documentation, accessed October 3, 2026. Percy’s additional-screenshot rates and plan allowances are listed on BrowserStack’s public pricing page; its free-allowance discrepancy is between that page and the App Percy billing documentation.

Why the allowances are not apples to apples

Percy counts usage by rendering a page or component in an individual browser and responsive-width combination. BrowserStack’s documentation gives the example that a snapshot across three devices counts as three screenshots. A test suite with a modest number of named pages can therefore generate substantially more screenshot usage when it covers multiple browsers and widths.

Applitools Starter instead publishes component or page checkpoint quantities. Those units do not map one-for-one to Percy screenshots. A meaningful comparison starts with your planned test suite and each vendor’s own meter—not by dividing plan prices by the displayed allowances as if the units were equivalent.

Estimate your startup’s monthly usage

  1. Count Percy combinations. For each page or component, count the browser and responsive-width combinations your tests render. Add them across runs for the month, including any repeated runs your team plans.
  2. Estimate Applitools checkpoints. Work out the page or component checkpoints that your actual workflow will use, then compare the estimate with the Starter allowance or provide it to sales for a custom-plan quote.
  3. Model likely growth. Include the screens and browser/width coverage you expect to add, and ask how over-limit usage is handled. Percy publishes extra-screenshot rates for the cited paid tiers; confirm how your quote treats increased usage.
  4. Check capability requirements. Verify plan-level access to desktop and mobile coverage, browsers and devices, parallel execution, dynamic-content handling, review workflow, accessibility and integrations. Applitools describes visual and functional testing, Storybook, cross-browser/device, Figma, CI/CD, maintenance, accessibility and support capabilities on its pricing page. Percy separates Desktop and Desktop & Mobile plans. Confirm current entitlements on the live pages.

What the published prices mean for an Indian buyer

The public prices are not a confirmed landed cost in India. Applitools’ subscription agreement says order-form amounts are in U.S. dollars and places responsibility for applicable taxes on the customer under its terms. The public material cited here does not establish an Indian checkout currency, exchange rate, GST amount, payment handling or startup discount for either vendor.

Before comparing budgets, request a written India-specific checkout total or quote from both companies. Ask for the quoted currency, annual total and commitment, tax or GST line items, exchange-rate and payment handling, included usage, overage rates and any startup pricing. Applitools’ quoted plan prices are annual-billing figures; BrowserStack likewise labels the cited Percy paid prices as billed annually.

Product differences to validate in an evaluation

Applitools’ comparison page says Percy identifies differences after a build and filters noise, while Applitools applies match levels during authoring to handle dynamic content. It also says Applitools groups related changes across browsers, devices and pages, and supports desktop applications and PDFs as well as web and mobile screens. These are Applitools’ own comparison claims, not an independent head-to-head benchmark. Test representative screens and dynamic states from your own product before choosing based on workflow fit.

Applitools’ FAQ states that a 14-day free trial is available, while BrowserStack lists a Percy Free plan. Confirm current availability, limits and signup conditions directly; for Percy, first resolve the conflicting free screenshot allowances in BrowserStack’s pricing and App Percy billing pages.

ScreenshotNeo as an alternative to try first

Applitools Eyes and Percy are visual-testing products; ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server, so it is an alternative when the immediate need is to capture clean website screenshots rather than adopt either visual-regression workflow. It is made by Yorker Media. ScreenshotNeo accepts consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture, with each step configurable. Only clean shots are billed: bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits cost nothing, and responses identify the verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients.

For a team that needs those captures, ScreenshotNeo’s plans include 1,000 screenshots per month free without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Every feature is on every plan. See ScreenshotNeo for product details.

One-call example

After creating an account and getting an API key, request a screenshot with cURL. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Cookie banners, popups and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages and failed loads are never billed; an MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots; and 1,000 screenshots a month are free with no card, with paid plans starting at $5 for 3,000.
