Yes. Applitools Eyes can be used to compare screenshots of Hindi-language pages: Applitools documents locale-based visual checks and an Eyes integration for Playwright. The comparison can help reveal layout problems such as clipped or overflowing text, but the cited product materials do not establish Hindi-specific detection accuracy in an independent test. Because Devanagari glyphs can change shape with character context, fonts and the rendering environment, test the Hindi pages and configurations your users actually encounter.
What Eyes can—and cannot—tell you about a Hindi page
Applitools says its localization checks compare locales against baselines and can expose text overflow, truncation and broken layouts. Its Playwright integration describes filtering rendering noise, including anti-aliasing and font-rendering differences. These are vendor descriptions of general product capabilities, not evidence of an independently measured Hindi-specific result.

A screenshot comparison is useful for visible changes: a conjunct or mark that renders unexpectedly, text that wraps differently, a button label that is clipped, or a layout that shifts after a font or interface change. It does not determine whether a translation is accurate, whether the page is accessible, or whether it will render correctly on every user’s device. Pair it with language review and any accessibility checks your project requires.

Hindi is a language; Devanagari is the script used for most Hindi text. Unicode explains that Devanagari characters can combine or change shape according to context, and that character ordering, fonts, and the application or system environment affect appearance. See the Unicode Standard, Version 16.0.0, Chapter 12. The W3C’s Devanagari Script Resources address web presentation, including fonts, contextual shaping and positioning, and layout.

Build a repeatable Hindi screenshot workflow
-
Choose an approved Hindi baseline
Capture pages with the approved Hindi content and the fonts and layout configuration intended for that environment. Treat the baseline as an expected visual state, not proof that the translation or rendering is correct. Have someone qualified review the language and script before approving it.
-
Cover representative journeys and states
Use the same user journey before and after meaningful interface or content changes. Include pages and states where text length, navigation, forms, dialogs, or responsive layout could affect what is visible. If the site serves mixed Hindi and Latin text, include those combinations rather than testing only isolated Hindi strings.

Match the configurations your site supports
Compare the browser engine, viewport or device size, font-loading condition, and locale or mixed-script state that matter to your users. A result from one configuration does not establish that another browser, viewport, or font environment behaves the same way.

Inspect the right visual details
- Check that Devanagari glyphs and conjuncts appear formed as intended, and look for unexpected fallback-font changes.
- Look for line breaks, truncation, clipping, overlap, spacing changes, and misalignment around Hindi text.
- Check that labels, links, and controls remain visible and usable when Hindi content occupies more or less space.
- Separate meaningful layout changes from rendering noise; Eyes documents noise filtering for differences such as anti-aliasing and font rendering.
-
Review and update baselines deliberately
Investigate a visual difference before accepting it. If a change is intended, approve the new visual state through your team’s normal review process; do not update a baseline merely to make a failing comparison pass. Retain a record of what changed and why if your workflow supports it.

What to evaluate when choosing the comparison setup
Applitools documents a Playwright integration, but the cited sources do not provide a Hindi-specific head-to-head comparison or establish coverage for every browser and device. Evaluate a setup against the environments and maintenance needs of your own site.
| Evaluation area | What to check |
|---|---|
| Browser and device coverage | Whether the test runs in the browser engines, viewports, and device sizes your users need. |
| Repeatability and noise handling | Whether repeated captures are stable and how the system handles rendering differences such as anti-aliasing or font rendering. |
| Framework fit | Whether the integration works with your existing automated test framework and user journeys. |
| Baseline review | How your team inspects differences, approves intentional changes, and maintains approved Hindi states. |
| Realistic Hindi rendering | Whether captures use the Hindi content, fonts, font-loading conditions, and mixed-script cases that users encounter. |
Common failures and how to investigate them
- Text wraps or clips differently: Check viewport dimensions, the exact Hindi content, and whether the intended font loaded before capture. Compare the affected page under the same conditions as its approved baseline.
- Glyphs or conjuncts look different: Inspect the font and rendering environment, including whether a fallback font was used. Unicode notes that Devanagari appearance depends on context and environment, so a difference may warrant investigation even when the text content is unchanged.
- Many small differences appear across the page: Check whether the captures used the same browser, viewport, font-loading condition, and page state. Consider whether rendering noise is involved; Applitools describes filtering anti-aliasing and font-rendering differences, but that does not mean every visual difference is harmless.
- A visual pass gives false confidence: Keep translation review and accessibility evaluation separate from screenshot comparison. A visual match cannot establish either linguistic correctness or accessibility.
- The issue does not reproduce in another configuration: Record which browser, viewport, locale, and font condition produced each capture. Test the configurations relevant to your audience instead of treating one passing screenshot as universal evidence.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo is an alternative to try first when you need to capture a page through an API rather than set up browser automation. It returns a screenshot or PDF; it is not a visual-baseline comparison service, so use Eyes or another comparison workflow to detect differences between captures. ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, with each step switchable. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed; responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. It also offers an MCP server for AI agents and has a free plan with 1,000 screenshots a month and no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.
One GET request can capture a Hindi page; replace the example URL with your page. See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for API details.
