Deal coverage published October 5–6, 2026, reported Amazon pricing the M6 Mac mini with 16GB of unified memory and a 256GB SSD at $779.99—about $120 below Apple’s $899 U.S. starting price. That is a dated reported offer, not confirmation that the price is still live. Check the Amazon listing for the current price, configuration, seller, stock and any purchase conditions before ordering.
Which M6 Mac mini is included in the reported deal?
The reported $779.99 price is for the entry configuration: 16GB unified memory and a 256GB SSD. TechRadar reported that price ahead of Prime Big Deal Days, while AppleInsider’s October 6 roundup reported the entry model at $779. Apple’s standard U.S. starting price is $899, making the reported price roughly $120 lower.

There is a small price discrepancy in TechRadar’s article: its prose gives $799.99 in one place, while its deal line says $779.99. AppleInsider separately reported $779 for the entry configuration. Treat $779.99 as the reported deal figure, not a verified live price.

Is the $120 price drop still available?
The cited coverage establishes that the offer was reported on October 5–6, 2026; it does not establish that Amazon is still offering it now. The available sources also do not establish the deal’s eligibility conditions or whether it requires a particular account or membership. Before buying, confirm the current listing price, that it is the 16GB/256GB model, the seller shown on the listing, stock and any offer terms.
How does the deal compare with Apple’s prices?
| Price reference | Amount | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Apple U.S. standard starting price | $899 | Apple’s stated starting price for the M6 Mac mini; the comparison used for the roughly $120 saving. |
| Reported Amazon deal | $779.99 | Deal coverage reported this price for the 16GB/256GB entry model on October 5–6, 2026; current availability is not established. |
| Apple U.S. education starting price | $799 | Apple’s separate education starting price for eligible buyers, not the standard price used to calculate the deal’s reported saving. |
Apple’s price announcement is at Apple Newsroom. A buyer who qualifies for education pricing should compare the actual eligible Apple price with the live retailer listing, rather than assume the full $120 saving applies against their alternative.

Is the 16GB/256GB model the right one to buy?
Choose the entry model if
- 16GB of unified memory and 256GB of internal storage suit your expected workload and file needs.
- You can keep large files on external storage or in another location, if that fits your setup.
- The live price and seller details check out, and the configuration is the one you intended to purchase.
Consider a larger configuration if
- You expect to keep substantial files, applications or media on the computer and want more internal storage.
- Your work is likely to benefit from more memory, or you prefer to buy the capacity you need up front.
The listed prices alone do not establish which configuration is best for a particular workload. Compare the amount you would actually pay for the capacity you need, rather than treating the entry-model discount as a discount on every M6 Mac mini.
