You can organize saved places in Apple Maps by creating a guide, adding places to it, and sharing it. Apple calls these lists guides in its iOS 26 instructions; the guide list is found under Your Guides in Maps.
How do I create a collection in Apple Maps?
Create a guide from the Your Guides area in Maps. Apple’s instructions use the label “guide,” so look for that wording in the app rather than a button called “Collections.”

- Open Maps and tap Your Guides.
- Tap the add-to-list control.
- Enter a name for the guide. If you want, add a cover image from your photo library.
- Tap Done.
Apple’s iOS 26 guide describes the cover image as optional.
How do I add a place to a guide in Maps?
Open a place from the map or search results, then add it from its place card:

How do I share or edit a Maps collection?
Share a guide
- In Maps, open Your Guides.
- Select the guide you want to share.
- Tap Share and choose a sharing option.
Edit or delete a guide
To change a guide’s title or cover image, or remove places from it, open the guide from Your Guides and tap Edit. To delete the guide, open its More menu and choose Delete from Places.
What is the difference between a custom guide and a publisher guide?
A custom guide is your own list: you name it and add places you want to organize. A publisher guide is curated content that Apple Maps lets you save to your guides, which can be useful for keeping recommendations together with your own saved places. Apple says guides can be browsed by city, interest, or publisher.

In select U.S. cities, Apple’s current guide discovery instructions also describe searching for “Local Lists” and choosing Guides to find local suggestions. That discovery option is location-dependent, not a universal step for finding or creating guides.

Where did my saved places go?
Maps groups saved places, guides, pins, and routes in Places. A guide is an organized list; a pin is a way to mark a place separately so it appears in Places when Maps opens. Apple says a Favorites guide always appears in your guides.

You can also add a personal note to a saved place. Apple says the note is visible only to you. If you share the place, the note appears as text alongside the shared link, but it is not added to the recipient’s notes. Removing the saved place also removes its personal notes.
