Apple iPhone 17 vs Google Pixel 11: Specs and Price Comparison (2026)

The 256GB iPhone 17 launched at $799 and the 256GB Pixel 11 at $899. Here is how the specs, cameras, ports and update support compare, and what to check before buying.

At the U.S. launch prices reported in August 2026, the 256GB iPhone 17 cost $799 and the 256GB Google Pixel 11 cost $899, a $100 difference. At 512GB the gap narrows to $21, with the iPhone at $999 and the Pixel 11 at $1,020. On specifications, the iPhone 17 has the sharper display and two 48MP rear cameras, while the Pixel 11 has a dedicated 5x optical telephoto lens, more memory, a USB 3.2 port and a seven-year update commitment from Google. Neither phone wins outright on paper. The prices here are launch-period figures, not live quotes, so check current pricing before deciding.

Price difference: what the launch figures show and what they do not

The price figures come from AppleInsider’s side-by-side comparison, published August 12, 2026, which reported U.S. prices for each phone. Google announced on August 25, 2026 that the Pixel 11 series was available to buy, with prices starting at $899. Prices for both phones can change through promotions, carrier deals, trade-in offers and sales tax, so the gap you pay may differ from the figures below.

Storage iPhone 17 (reported U.S. launch price) Pixel 11 (reported U.S. launch price) Difference at launch
256GB $799 $899 Pixel 11 costs $100 more
512GB $999 $1,020 Pixel 11 costs $21 more

Use these steps to compare current prices fairly:

  1. Compare the same storage tier only. A 256GB iPhone against a 512GB Pixel changes the result.
  2. Check the total at checkout, including tax, rather than the advertised base price.
  3. Confirm whether each listing is unlocked or tied to a carrier plan, because carrier versions often carry different monthly costs.
  4. Look at trade-in credits and promotions as a separate line item. They are usually time-limited and do not change the base price.

Specifications side by side

The table below lists the values as published by each manufacturer and by AppleInsider where noted. Specification values are not performance results.

Display

Both phones use a 6.3-inch OLED panel, so screen size will not separate them. The iPhone 17 has the higher listed resolution and pixel density, which makes text and fine detail look crisper on a close view. Both list refresh rates up to 120Hz. The iPhone’s refresh rate is adaptive and it supports an always-on display, while Google lists the Pixel 11 at 60–120Hz. Both manufacturers list peak outdoor brightness of up to 3000 nits, but each company may test that figure differently, so treat the two numbers as marketing claims rather than a direct measurement.

Cameras

Telephoto and zoom

The Pixel 11 is the clearer choice for distant subjects. It has a dedicated 10.8MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, which uses a separate lens rather than digital magnification. The iPhone 17 does not have a dedicated telephoto lens in its listed specifications. Its 2x framing comes from the main sensor, which is a crop of the 48MP image and is not the same as a telephoto lens. The Pixel’s “Super Zoom up to 30x” figure is computational, and it should not be read as optical reach.

Main and ultrawide

The iPhone 17 lists 48MP for both its main and ultrawide cameras, a higher ultrawide resolution than the Pixel 11’s 13MP ultrawide. The Pixel 11’s main camera is also 48MP. Resolution is only one part of image quality, and sensor size, processing and lens design also matter. None of these specifications establish which phone takes better photos.

Front camera

Apple lists an 18MP Center Stage front camera on the iPhone 17, and Google lists a 10.5MP autofocus front camera on the Pixel 11. The iPhone’s higher megapixel count is not a complete comparison, because field of view and features such as center-framing also affect selfies and video calls.

  • Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.

Video

AppleInsider’s comparison describes a broader set of listed video modes on the iPhone 17, including a fuller Dolby Vision recording feature set. If video is your main use, check whether the modes you need are included on each phone before choosing.

Performance and memory

The iPhone 17 uses Apple’s A19 chip with 8GB of RAM as reported by AppleInsider. The Pixel 11 uses Google’s Tensor G6 with 12GB of RAM. Chip names and memory amounts are specifications, not benchmark results. AppleInsider noted that third-party benchmark data for the Tensor G6 was not available when its comparison was written, so no reliable performance winner can be declared from the material available. The Pixel’s larger memory figure may matter for heavy multitasking, but the real-world effect depends on the software and workload.

Battery life and charging

The two battery claims are not comparable. Apple’s figure refers to video playback, while Google’s 30+ hours is an estimate across a mix of tasks. Google also lists a 4,985mAh typical battery capacity. Use the figures as rough guides, and judge battery life by how you actually use the phone.

Rank #3
Apple iPhone 17, US Version, 256GB, eSIM, Black- Unlocked (Renewed)
  • This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
  • Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.

  • The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charger and charging cable.
  • Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.

Both phones support magnetic wireless charging up to 25W, but they use different standards. The iPhone 17 is listed with MagSafe and Qi2. The Pixel 11 is listed with Pixelsnap and Qi2.2. Google says the Pixel 11 reaches about 55% in roughly 30 minutes with a 30W-or-higher USB-C PPS charger, which Google sells separately. Before buying a charger, confirm the exact standard and compatibility for your model.

Ports and file transfer

Both phones use USB-C, but the port speeds differ on paper. AppleInsider reports that the iPhone 17 uses USB 2 speeds up to 480Mb/s, while Google lists the Pixel 11 at USB 3.2. If you regularly move large video or photo libraries to a computer, the Pixel’s listed port is the faster option. Real transfer speed also depends on the cable, the adapter and the computer, so test with your own setup if file speed matters to you.

Durability

Both phones carry an IP68 rating, and the listed test conditions are the same: submersion to 6m for up to 30 minutes. Apple describes its rating as tested under IEC 60529 conditions. These are laboratory conditions, not a guarantee against water damage, and standard warranties usually exclude liquid damage.

Software and update support

Google states that the Pixel 11 receives “OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates for 7 years,” and it lists Android 17 on the device. This seven-year commitment is one of the clearest differences in the Pixel’s favour. The Apple page and AppleInsider comparison used here do not give an equivalent iPhone support period. If long support is important to you, check Apple’s current software support information before deciding.

Which phone fits your situation

  • Choose the iPhone 17 if you already use a Mac, iPad or other Apple devices, want the lower price at 256GB, prefer the sharper display, and want the broader video features.
  • Choose the Pixel 11 if you photograph distant subjects often and want a dedicated 5x optical telephoto lens, want more memory, transfer large files over USB, or want Google’s seven-year update commitment.
  • Look at the total cost if you are buying at 512GB, because the gap is only $21 at the reported launch prices. Ecosystem and camera features will matter more than price at that level.

Limits of this comparison

This article draws on manufacturer specification pages, Google’s August 25, 2026 availability announcement, and AppleInsider’s August 12, 2026 comparison. The Apple specification page cited here is the United Arab Emirates edition, so check the Apple page for your region if values differ. The sources do not include hands-on camera, battery or performance tests, and the prices are dated launch figures rather than live quotes. Before deciding, check current prices and run your own tests of the features you care about most.
