Apple’s A19 has a clearly documented CPU, GPU and Neural Engine configuration in iPhone 17, while the available direct A19–Tensor G4 benchmark evidence is limited to a GPU comparison between iPhone 17 and Pixel 9. That comparison is device-level, not a complete verdict on either chip. Google’s Pixel 10 generation uses Tensor G5, so Tensor G4 refers to Pixel 9-series hardware, not every current Pixel.
Which phones use A19 and Tensor G4?
A19 is the chip in iPhone 17. Google’s Pixel hardware specifications place Tensor G4 in Pixel 9-series devices and Tensor G5 in Pixel 10 devices. Geekbench’s Android device listings also identify Pixel 9a with Tensor G4.

This generation distinction matters when interpreting a comparison: a Pixel 10 result would concern Tensor G5, not Tensor G4. The available Geekbench GPU comparison names iPhone 17 and Google Pixel 9, rather than comparing processors in isolation.

Apple’s iPhone 17 technical specifications list A19 with a six-core CPU comprising two performance cores and four efficiency cores, a five-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, and a 16-core Neural Engine. Apple also lists hardware-accelerated ray tracing. In its 2025 iPhone 17 announcement, Apple says A19 is built using third-generation 3-nanometer technology.
#1 Best Overall
- Google Pixel 10a is a durable, everyday phone with more[1]; snap brilliant photography on a simple, powerful camera, get 30+ hours out of a full charge[2], and do more with helpful AI like Gemini[3]
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan; it works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers
- Pixel 10a is sleek and durable, with a super smooth finish, scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 7i display, and IP68 water and dust protection[4]
- The Actua display with 3,000-nit peak brightness shows up clear as day, even in direct sunlight[5]
- Plan, create, and get more done with help from Gemini, your built-in AI assistant[3]; have it screen spam calls while you focus[6]; chat with Gemini to brainstorm your meal plan[7], or bring your ideas to life with Nano Banana[8]
Apple’s performance figures are comparisons with A15 Bionic in iPhone 13, not with Tensor G4: Apple says A19’s six-core CPU is 1.5 times faster and its five-core GPU is more than twice as fast. Those are Apple’s manufacturer claims and should not be read as independent test results or an A19-versus-G4 measurement.
What does the Geekbench GPU comparison show?
Geekbench’s GPU comparison lists the iPhone 17 with Apple A19 GPU and Google Pixel 9 with Google Tensor G4 GPU. It is a third-party benchmark database comparison of these particular devices. The listing identifies the test as Geekbench 7 GPU; any score should be read with that version and device pairing in view, rather than treated as a universal chip ranking.

A GPU benchmark measures a specific graphics workload under the device’s implementation and test conditions. It does not establish which chip is faster at CPU tasks, on-device AI, or sustained workloads, and it does not by itself predict performance across games and apps. Benchmark database entries can change as submissions and versions change.

Not from these sources alone. Apple publishes A19 specifications and A15-relative performance claims, while the cited Google page maps Tensor G4 to Pixel devices rather than providing a full official Tensor G4 specification sheet. The surfaced direct comparison is a Geekbench GPU listing for iPhone 17 and Pixel 9; it is not a matched assessment of CPU single-core and multi-core performance, AI workloads, power draw, thermal behavior, and sustained performance.

For a fair all-around comparison, those measures would need to be tested on identified devices under comparable conditions, with benchmark versions and workload details reported. The sourced information supports describing A19’s configuration and one device-level GPU comparison, but not declaring a general A19-versus-Tensor G4 performance winner.
