Apple’s A19 leads the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 in single-core results in the cited Geekbench 6 comparisons, but the multi-core result is too close—and inconsistent across publishers—to establish a clear winner. Snapdragon scores higher in the cited AnTuTu comparisons, though iOS and Android AnTuTu scores should not be treated as directly comparable. These figures come from device and source aggregates, not a controlled test of both chips in otherwise identical phones.
How the A19 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 differ on paper
The A19 figures below describe the standard chip in Apple’s iPhone 17, not the A19 Pro. Apple specifies a six-core CPU with two performance cores and four efficiency cores, a five-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, and a 16-core Neural Engine. Apple’s iPhone 17 technical specifications identify the chip and its configuration.

Qualcomm describes Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 as combining a custom Oryon CPU, an Adreno GPU, and a Hexagon NPU. Its product page lists a peak CPU clock of 3.8 GHz. Qualcomm’s statements about performance and efficiency improvements are comparisons with the previous generation, not results against Apple’s A19. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 product page has its specifications and claims.
Those manufacturer descriptions are not a complete, like-for-like specification table: Apple and Qualcomm do not publish fully symmetric public breakdowns in the cited material. A third-party comparison labels both chips as 3 nm, but a process-node label alone does not establish equivalent manufacturing characteristics or real-world efficiency.

Geekbench 6: A19 leads single-core, multi-core is unsettled
Geekbench 6 scores are useful for separating lightly threaded work from workloads that use multiple CPU cores. The published comparisons agree that A19 is ahead in single-core, but they differ on the multi-core leader.
| Publisher and score set | A19 single-core | Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 single-core | A19 multi-core | Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 multi-core |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 91Mobiles, comparison page accessed in 2026 | 3,672 | 2,889 | 9,327 | 9,583 |
| NanoReview, live comparison page accessed in 2026 | 3,692 | 2,833 | 9,454 | 9,119 |
In the 91Mobiles figures, Snapdragon is 256 points ahead in multi-core; NanoReview’s live aggregate instead puts A19 335 points ahead. These are each publisher’s reported comparison results, not measurements from a shared, controlled run. Differences in devices, samples, software, and aggregation can affect the figures. 91Mobiles’ A19 and Snapdragon comparison and NanoReview’s live comparison show their respective results.
For a separate device-level reference, Geekbench’s live mobile chart includes an iPhone 17 with A19. It is a changing chart, so its entry should not be combined as if it were the same test run or aggregate as either comparison page. Geekbench’s iOS benchmark chart provides that context.

AnTuTu: higher Snapdragon totals need a cross-platform caveat
The comparison pages publish higher AnTuTu totals for Snapdragon, but their scores are not evidence of an equivalent advantage in everyday use. NanoReview explicitly cautions that AnTuTu results on iOS and Android are not directly comparable.
| Publisher and version | A19 score | Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 score |
|---|---|---|
| 91Mobiles comparison page, version not stated | 2,250,422 | 3,098,258 |
| NanoReview, AnTuTu 11 | 2,156,126 | 3,057,215 |
The totals and component results are publisher-reported figures, not independent lab measurements. The cited 91Mobiles page does not state an AnTuTu version alongside the totals, while NanoReview identifies its set as AnTuTu 11. For both sources, the platform-comparability caveat matters more than simply ranking the totals.
What these scores do—and do not—tell you
- Single-core: The published Geekbench 6 comparisons consistently put A19 ahead. This is the clearest CPU result in the cited figures.
- Multi-core: The reported margin is small and the publisher aggregates disagree, so the available results do not establish a reliable winner.
- Graphics: The cited evidence does not provide a matched, cross-platform graphics test with a stated API that can fairly rank these chips.
- Sustained speed and power: The results do not establish a same-condition winner for sustained performance, power consumption, or battery life. Peak CPU clock and a benchmark total cannot answer those questions.
Phone cooling, software, workload, and the rest of the device all influence measured performance. Neither peak clocks nor a single aggregate score establishes real-world smoothness, battery life, or gaming frame rates.

Compare the phones, not only the chips
A19 is documented in Apple’s iPhone 17. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 appears in phone listings that include Motorola Signature, vivo X300 FE, iQOO 15R, Motorola Edge 70 Max, and OnePlus 15R, according to the cited 91Mobiles page. Availability and chip variants can differ by geography, so verify the exact retail model in your market. A benchmark result attributed to a phone reflects the complete device, not just its processor.
