Apple lists a five-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine alongside its CPU. Two dated Geekbench 6 submissions for the iPhone 14 Pro provide useful performance examples, but neither is a definitive or sustained-performance rating.
Where A16 Bionic appeared
Apple announced A16 Bionic for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max on September 7, 2022. The iPhone 14 Pro technical specifications document the chip’s core configuration. Apple’s launch announcement provides additional claims about performance and image processing.

A16 Bionic specifications
| Component | Apple’s specification |
|---|---|
| CPU | Six cores: two performance cores and four efficiency cores |
| GPU | Five cores |
| Neural Engine | 16 cores |
Apple describes the CPU, GPU, Neural Engine and image signal processor working together with the iPhone 14 Pro camera system to support computational photography. This is Apple’s account of the chip’s role in the device, not an independent measure of how quickly every photo or app will run.

In its 2022 announcement, Apple said the A16 CPU was “up to 40 percent faster than the competition.” The cited passage does not define the comparison set, so the figure should be read as an attributed launch claim rather than a general benchmark result.
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
- Apple said the five-core GPU had “50 percent more memory bandwidth.”
- Apple said the 16-core Neural Engine could perform “nearly 17 trillion operations per second.”
- Apple said the chip’s components could perform “up to 4 trillion operations per photo.”
These figures come from Apple’s announcement, not independent testing. In the same promotional context, Apple senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing Greg Joswiak called it “the best iPhone yet” and referred to all-day battery life. That statement is launch copy, not a measured A16 battery-life result.
Geekbench 6 results for iPhone 14 Pro
The following Geekbench Browser records are individual user-submitted results, not a lab average. The device, software version, operating system and upload date matter when interpreting each score.
Rank #2
- Vibrant 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with OLED technology. Action mode for smooth, steady, handheld videos.
| Record | Geekbench and device details | Single-core | Multi-core |
|---|---|---|---|
| Result 18350789 | iPhone 14 Pro; Geekbench 6.7.0 for iOS; iOS 26.5; uploaded June 14, 2026 | 2678 | 6854 |
| Result 18285107 | iPhone 14 Pro; Geekbench 6.7.0 for iOS; iOS 18.7.8; uploaded June 8, 2026 | 2634 | 6731 |
One Geekbench 6.7.0 submission recorded 2678 single-core and 6854 multi-core on an iPhone 14 Pro running iOS 26.5; another recorded 2634 and 6731 on iOS 18.7.8. These are examples from different software conditions, not fixed specifications for every A16 device. Do not average them into a precise expected score or treat the difference as a controlled comparison.
What Geekbench measures—and what it does not
Geekbench’s Geekbench 6 Internals document (May 2024) describes CPU scores as evaluations of CPU and memory performance using workloads such as data compression, image processing and machine learning. Its GPU workloads include image processing, computational photography, computer vision and machine learning.
Rank #3
- Vibrant 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with OLED technology. Action mode for smooth, steady, handheld videos.
These are selected synthetic workloads. A score can help compare results made with the same Geekbench version, but it does not directly guarantee how fast a particular app will feel, what frame rate a game will sustain, or how the phone behaves during a long workload. No controlled sustained-load test is established here, so these scores do not establish sustained performance, heat behavior or battery life.

How to compare A16 benchmark numbers fairly
- Match benchmark versions. Geekbench says version 6 results can only be compared with other Geekbench 6 results; do not directly compare a Geekbench 6 score with version 5 or 7. Its iPhone 14 Pro benchmarks page recommends Geekbench 7 for testing modern hardware.
- Keep single-core and multi-core separate. They describe different test results and should not be conflated.
- Check the device and software. Compare the same device model and note the operating-system version and test date.
- Identify the type of result. A single submission is not an aggregate or a controlled test. Geekbench’s device chart says its data is gathered from user-submitted Geekbench 6 results, but the cited page does not provide a usable iPhone 14 Pro aggregate.
