The first offering is a nomination-only residency: participants complete a four-day simulated enterprise deployment exercise, then spend 12 weeks leading a Claude deployment at their own organization. The target is a future goal, not a count of people already trained.
What Anthropic announced
Anthropic’s Claude Frontier Academy page describes an initial $100 million investment and a goal of training 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers by the end of 2027. Anthropic says it will announce additional Academy programs in 2027. The company has not said the full investment has already been spent, and its 10,000 figure is a target—not an enrollment, graduation, or credential count.

The first program, the Frontier Deployed Engineer (FDE) Residency, is designed for engineers who can take Claude from a proposed use case through security review and into a system deployed at their organization. It is intended for hands-on software engineers with strong fundamentals, experience building with large language models, and a record of helping others adopt AI.

How the Frontier Deployed Engineer residency works
Four days of simulated deployment work
Participants first attend a four-day intensive. They build a Claude system for a simulated enterprise, working from an initial customer request through security review and handover. Anthropic then assesses them on a new scenario. Those who pass receive the first credential, Claude Resident Engineer.

Twelve weeks on a deployment at work
The intensive is followed by a 12-week residency in which each participant leads a Claude deployment at their own organization. Participants receive cohort mentorship and support from Anthropic engineers. To earn the final Frontier Deployed Engineer credential, they must pass a final practical assessment. Anthropic expects to award the first final credentials in early 2027.
Who can take part
The residency is not described as a course individuals can join through open enrollment. Organizations nominate participants. Anthropic lists cohorts in San Francisco, New York, and London, and names Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, and Novo Nordisk among organizations in the first cohorts.

Organizations interested in participation are directed to contact their Anthropic account team or Partner Account Manager to ask about eligibility. The announcement does not provide a public individual application route, tuition price, or details about who covers participation costs.

What the $100 million is intended to support
Anthropic frames the Academy around developing people who can turn Claude use cases into production systems and apply AI to business processes, products, or services. The company’s stated ambitions include redesigned or faster processes and new offerings. These are intended outcomes, not reported results: the announcement gives no measured business impact, completion rate, cost per graduate, or third-party evaluation.
Steve Corfield, Anthropic’s Global Head of Business Development and Partnerships, described the premise this way: “A small team of high-agency people with the right skills, access to Claude, and a deep understanding of how their business runs can transform an entire company.” That is an executive’s view of the program’s potential, not an independently established finding or a quantified measure of an enterprise AI talent shortage.

The announcement establishes the program’s planned investment, training target, format, nomination route, locations, named participating organizations, and expected timing for the first final credentials. Its claims about future delivery and impact remain prospective. The page does not show how many people have enrolled or completed training, whether the $100 million will be fully deployed, or whether participant-led systems have produced measurable organizational gains.

Those distinctions matter when assessing the headline. Anthropic has announced a substantial commitment and a concrete training model, but the evidence available in the announcement is a plan rather than an outcome evaluation. The first final credentials are expected in early 2027; any judgment about completion or business effectiveness will depend on results reported later.
