The useful question is whether GTA VI could have a troubled launch like Cyberpunk 2077. It is possible in the abstract, but the comparison cannot predict the outcome. There is no reliable statistic here that estimates the probability of serious GTA VI launch bugs, and GTA VI has not yet launched.

Rockstar’s current announced release date is November 19, 2026. In its November 2025 announcement, the company said the additional time would let it finish the game with the level of polish players expect. That explains Rockstar’s stated reason for the schedule change; it does not guarantee the game’s eventual quality. Rockstar’s release-date announcement gives the company’s position.

The announced platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two’s pre-order announcement listed a US price of $79.99; price and availability can change, so check current retailer listings before buying. What happened when Cyberpunk 2077 launched
Cyberpunk 2077 launched on December 10, 2020. CD PROJEKT RED described it as an open-world action-adventure RPG for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Stadia, also playable on the then-new Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles. That launch covered a different platform mix from GTA VI’s currently announced PS5 and Xbox Series X|S release; the lists alone do not show which game was more technically difficult to develop. The response to Cyberpunk 2077 included refunds and a temporary suspension of its digital distribution on the PlayStation Store. CD PROJEKT’s 2020 management report says Sony suspended PlayStation Store distribution on December 18, 2020. That affected digital store availability; it did not mean existing purchasers lost access. CD PROJEKT also reported that Cyberpunk 2077 had sold over 13 million copies by December 20, 2020. That was the company’s estimated sell-through across platforms, net of retail refunds and direct refund requests known when it issued the report—not an independently audited lifetime total or a measure of defects. How to judge claims about GTA VI’s launch
When a video or post predicts launch problems, separate confirmed information from speculation. A useful evidence check is:
- Official schedule: Rockstar’s date and stated reason for the delay are verifiable announcements, not proof that the final game will be polished.
- Historical comparison: Cyberpunk 2077 provides an example of a high-profile launch followed by refunds and a store suspension, but a past case does not establish what will happen to GTA VI.
- Unverified media: Until the specific video is identified, its source and contents cannot be responsibly described.
- Predictions: No reliable probability or independently attributable named-person forecast of GTA VI’s launch quality is established here.
