Angry Birds Stella was discontinued and later disappeared from app stores, but Rovio has not published a confirmed, Stella-specific explanation for the decision. Rovio’s statements about older games point generally to the work of maintaining legacy software for changing devices and store requirements—not to a documented reason for removing Stella in particular.
Why was Angry Birds Stella removed?
The most accurate answer is that the specific reason remains unconfirmed in the available official statements. Rovio has explained why it stopped maintaining some older games as a group: the company focused on active titles, while older software could be difficult to keep compatible with evolving mobile devices and marketplace requirements. Those explanations provide context, but Rovio did not identify Stella as the subject of a specific removal decision in the statements cited here.

In a June 22, 2021 letter, Rovio said older games used technology and design that made it difficult to maintain the quality of updates and live operations it expected. When did Stella leave app stores?
A fan-maintained history records that Stella was discontinued before it was removed from app stores, and gives October 18, 2016 as the removal date. Treat that date as a secondary-source report, not as a date confirmed by an official Rovio notice. Angry Birds Stella history
Discontinuation and delisting are distinct: a game can stop receiving updates or active support before its store listing disappears. The secondary chronology describes that sequence for Stella, but the sources cited here do not establish the exact date of discontinuation.

Why can’t I find it in the App Store or Google Play?
If the game’s listing is no longer available in your region or store, you may not be able to locate or newly download it through the usual search. Rovio’s general support guidance says people who previously downloaded some affected older games may still be able to install them from their app-store cloud history. That is conditional guidance, not a Stella-specific promise: access can depend on the account, store, region, and device, and an old app may not work correctly on a current operating system.

Can previous players reinstall Angry Birds Stella?
If you downloaded Stella before, check the purchase or download history associated with the same Apple or Google account you used at the time. Look for the game in the store’s library or previously acquired apps. Store menus and availability can vary by operating-system version and region. Rovio’s statement only says that prior downloaders may be able to reinstall some older games through cloud history; it does not guarantee Stella will appear or install on every account or device.

Was Stella part of Rovio’s later Angry Birds revival?

The sources cited here do not establish that poor sales, an expired license, or a particular wave of app-store removals caused Stella’s disappearance. Rovio’s public statements explain its general approach to older titles, while the Stella-specific chronology comes from a secondary fan-maintained source. Keeping those two kinds of evidence separate is important: a general company policy is not proof of the reason for one game’s delisting.
