Turning it off may affect features that rely on it, but Google does not publish a universal list of what stops working on every phone. The exact result depends on the device, Android version and available features.
What Android System Intelligence does
Google describes Android System Intelligence as a component within Private Compute Core that powers intelligent features across Android. Its documented examples span text, sound, notifications and other parts of the interface; some features are available only on certain devices.

- Live Caption, Live Translate and Assistant Voice Typing
- Screen Attention and Smart Autorotate
- Improved copy and paste, Smart Text Selection and Linkify
- App predictions, notification actions and App Search
- Now Playing and boarding-pass support from a screenshot
Google says system permissions can support particular predictions. For example, contact permission may allow a suggestion to call a frequent contact; that example does not mean every feature requires contact access. Google Pixel Phone Help lists the component and its features.
What may happen if you turn it off
Features that depend on Android System Intelligence may stop working or behave differently if the component is disabled. That is an inference from Google’s feature list, not a guaranteed outcome for any one feature or device. The official documentation does not provide a cross-device disable procedure or a complete list of consequences.

Before changing a system component, check your phone’s model and Android version, look for the controls available on that device, and consider which listed features you use. Do not assume that disabling it will improve battery life, speed or storage: the cited documentation establishes no such effects.
Turning it off is different from these data controls
| Goal | Control | What Google documents |
|---|---|---|
| Disable the component | A device-specific system-component control, if available | Google’s cited help does not specify a universal method or the resulting feature losses. |
| Limit optional analytics collection | Settings > Privacy > Usage & Diagnostics | Google says collection is optional and identifies this setting for configuring it. |
| Remove Android System Intelligence data | Settings > Security & privacy > More security & privacy > Android System Intelligence > Clear Data | Google documents this as a way to clear the component’s data. Menu names may vary by device or Android release. |
| Record network usage | Record Network Usage in Android System Intelligence settings | This records network usage; Google does not describe it as a global disable switch. |
The Usage & Diagnostics option concerns analytics collection; clearing data is a separate action. Neither should be treated as equivalent to disabling the component. Google’s instructions for analytics and clearing data are on its Pixel Phone Help page. The separate network-usage control is described in Google’s network-usage help.

What Google says about privacy and network access
Google says Android System Intelligence and Private Compute Services collect crash logs, diagnostics and device identifiers for application analytics, and that analytics collection is optional. Google also says Android System Intelligence features do not have direct network access, while Private Compute Services acts as a secure cloud bridge that helps deliver updates. Google’s security blog says Android prevents features inside Private Compute Core from directly accessing the network.

Google also describes Private Compute Services as using methods including federated learning and analytics to help preserve privacy and assess feature performance.
