You can make an Android home screen resemble iOS by arranging a clean app grid and dock, matching icons and wallpaper, and adding a few coordinated widgets. Android remains Android: a launcher changes the home-screen experience, not the operating system or its system controls.
Start with Android’s built-in home-screen controls
You may not need another app for a simple, uncluttered layout. Android lets you add apps, shortcuts, folders, and widgets to Home screens, then arrange them to suit your preferred look. Google’s Home screen instructions cover these basic actions; exact gestures and labels can vary by device.

- Choose a wallpaper with a restrained color palette and enough open space for icons.
- Place your most-used apps in a consistent grid, with a small set of frequently used apps along the bottom.
- Group less-used apps into folders rather than filling every open space.
- Add only widgets that serve a purpose, such as a calendar or weather display, and leave breathing room around them.
Removing an icon from the Home screen is not the same as uninstalling the app. If you only want a cleaner screen, use the option to remove it from Home rather than the uninstall action.

Choose a launcher for more control over the grid and dock
If your preinstalled launcher does not offer enough control, a third-party launcher can change the Home screen layout and icon treatment. The Nova Launcher Google Play listing describes controls for icons, colors, the Home screen, app drawer, folders, and subgrid placement. These features make it a documented option for shaping a more iOS-like grid, but the exact controls and availability can change. Check the live listing and requested permissions before installing.

Think of the goal as borrowing visual cues, not reproducing every iPhone behavior. A regular grid, consistent icon sizing, restrained labels, and a stable bottom row can create a familiar surface. How closely you can match a particular iOS version depends on the launcher and device.
Pick an approach that suits your priority

Use a theme or icon pack to coordinate the details
A launcher can provide layout controls; a theme or matching icon pack can make wallpaper, icons, fonts, and colors feel like one design. In its May 8, 2026 guide, the Niagara Launcher team describes one-tap themes that combine those elements and can then be customized. The team says, “Niagara Launcher is free and includes three themes plus support for any icon pack from the Play Store.” That is the vendor’s description of its offering, not an independent evaluation.

Niagara’s list-based design is a different choice from a tightly packed iOS-like grid. It may suit you if coordinated styling matters more than matching the shape of an iPhone Home screen. For a grid-focused result, choose a launcher with explicit layout and dock controls, then apply a compatible icon pack if needed.

Add widgets selectively
Android widgets can provide information and shortcuts directly on the Home screen. Some users use KWGT-based packs to approximate an iOS-inspired widget style, but those are recreations, not Apple widgets or Apple’s visual effects. In its iOS 26 customization guide, Android Authority reported sizing and button or permission limitations in the particular Liquid Glass-inspired widget setup it tried. Those are hands-on observations about that setup, not a guarantee that every widget pack or phone will behave the same way.

Switch launchers carefully, and keep a way back
Android settings labels differ among manufacturers. Android Authority gives Settings > Default apps > Home app as a common route for selecting a launcher, but the exact path on your phone may differ. Search Settings for “Home app” or “default apps” if you do not see those labels.
- Install the launcher from its official store listing and review its permissions.
- Open it and follow its setup prompts to choose a layout, icons, or theme.
- When Android asks which Home app to use, select the new launcher. If it does not ask, use your phone’s Default apps or Home app setting.
- Try the Home screen, app drawer, widgets, and navigation gestures before removing or changing anything in the original launcher.
- If you prefer the previous setup, return to the Home app setting and select the original launcher. Niagara says switching back is possible, though the precise steps depend on the device.
Gesture navigation and the Recent apps screen are not controlled solely by a third-party launcher. Niagara’s help page, last updated October 18, 2023, explains that recents and gesture navigation involve part of the preinstalled launcher. Manufacturer and system implementations can therefore affect how a third-party launcher works; that page is a durable caveat, not a current compatibility list for every phone.

Know what the makeover cannot change
A launcher changes the Home screen experience; it does not replace Android with iOS. A Control Center-style app can simulate an iOS-like panel, but in the example Android Authority tested it did not replace Android’s system control panel. Likewise, matching icons or widgets cannot guarantee the same interactions, system settings, or gesture behavior as an iPhone.
