Android 12 Update Tracker: One UI 4, MIUI 13, OxygenOS 12, realme UI 3.0 and More

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

This is a historical tracker of Android 12 and the manufacturer updates built around it during the 2021–2022 rollout—not a list of software still rolling out in 2026. Android 12 was Google’s 2021 major Android release, but phones received it through brand- and model-specific firmware: Samsung’s One UI 4, Xiaomi’s MIUI 13, OnePlus’s OxygenOS 12, Oppo’s ColorOS 12, and realme UI 3.0, among others. A skin name alone did not establish the Android version, device eligibility, or availability in a particular country or carrier channel.

How to read this Android 12 tracker

For a historical rollout, “Android 12” means the underlying Android platform version; the interface and release name came from the phone maker. A manufacturer could also ship the same skin version on more than one Android base. Xiaomi’s MIUI 13, for example, was reported on both Android 11 and Android 12, so the MIUI label alone cannot confirm an Android 12 upgrade.

Rollouts were often staged. A beta announcement, first stable release in one market, and broad availability across carrier variants are different milestones. A device appearing on an early expected-device list is not proof that every version of that device ultimately received the update. The November 14, 2021 tracker covered several brands but mixed announcements and beta information with projected eligibility lists; treat those projections as predictions, not guarantees (historical Android 12 tracker).

Brand Android 12-era software What the historical record establishes Important qualification
Samsung One UI 4 Galaxy S21-series beta availability was reported in several markets. Beta, stable, carrier, and country availability were separate stages.
Xiaomi, Redmi, Poco MIUI 13 Android 12-era interface and device projections were reported. MIUI 13 could be based on Android 11 or Android 12.
OnePlus OxygenOS 12 Early testing centered on the OnePlus 9 series; closed testing for selected older models was reported. Testing status did not establish a stable release for every listed model.
Oppo ColorOS 12 Covered as a major Android 12-era interface. Availability varied by model and market; it was not interchangeable with OxygenOS.
realme realme UI 3.0 Android 12-based software was planned, with early attention on the GT family. Candidate lists included unconfirmed models.
Vivo and iQOO Funtouch OS 12, OriginOS, or regional iQOO software Brand and regional software variants were part of the tracker’s scope. China and international releases could differ.
Asus and other makers ZenUI-based or vendor-specific Android 12 Updates were model-specific. Carrier approval and local support policies could affect timing.

What Android 12 changed

Android 12 introduced platform-level changes, but manufacturers could adapt, supplement, or omit elements in their own firmware. The changes commonly associated with the release included:

  • New widgets and visual customization options.
  • Changes to performance, power management, and accessibility.

Those platform features are not a promise that every Android 12 phone exposed them in the same way. Hardware, regional firmware, and the maker’s software design could change what an owner saw.

Samsung: One UI 4

One UI 4 was Samsung’s Android 12-based interface. The Galaxy S21 family was the focus of an initial beta, with availability reported in China, India, Germany, Poland, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States. That was beta access in named markets—not a global stable-release date. Samsung’s interface changes included customization for wallpapers, icons, widgets, notifications, and the home screen, alongside privacy and security changes.

Models and rollout timing

Early expected-device lists named products across Galaxy S, Note, Z, A, M, F, and Tab families. Examples included the Galaxy S21, S20, and S10 families; Note20 and Note10 families; Z Fold2; and Tab S7 family. These were not a universal official eligibility guarantee for every regional or carrier variant.

A later published Samsung schedule placed some devices in rollout windows extending through July 2022, with entries for January, February, April, May, June, and July. It is a historical schedule, not evidence that each listed date applied identically in every country or on every carrier build (historical One UI 4 schedule). One UI 4.0 and later One UI 4.1 updates were also distinct releases; receiving one did not mean all variants received the other at the same time.

Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco: MIUI 13

MIUI 13 was Xiaomi’s interface associated with the Android 12 rollout period, but it did not map to one Android base across all devices. Reporting at the time connected MIUI 13 with both Android 11 and Android 12. Check the phone’s Android version and full build number rather than inferring the base from the MIUI label (MIUI 13 and Android-base reporting).

Reported MIUI 13 changes included interface refinements, control-center and icon changes, animations and power-management adjustments, and virtual RAM expansion on supported devices. Early candidate lists included Mi 11 and Mi 10 families, Mi 10T models, Redmi Note 9 and Note 10 models, and Redmi K-series phones. These were projections, not a final compatibility list for every Xiaomi, Redmi, or Poco model. China, Global, European, Indian, and carrier firmware branches could have different schedules and builds.

OnePlus: OxygenOS 12

OxygenOS 12 was OnePlus’s Android 12 software. Early testing centered on the OnePlus 9 series. A November 12, 2021 report described closed beta testing for OnePlus 8T and OnePlus 8-series users worldwide; “worldwide” in this context describes the reported beta’s reach, not a stable OTA delivered to every owner (OxygenOS 12 testing report).

Reported beta feature areas included auto-brightness, mistouch prevention, widgets, page layout and typography, floating-window controls, gaming performance, camera-mode arrangement and zoom, battery-use charts, app preloading, and quicker access to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, airplane mode, and NFC controls.

OxygenOS 12 arrived during a closer software relationship between OnePlus and Oppo. That context helps explain why users could see changes to interface design and system behavior compared with earlier OxygenOS, but it does not make OxygenOS and ColorOS identical. Early tables showed the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro with developer-preview availability and named the 9R, 8T, 8 Pro, 8, Nord, 7T, 7T Pro, 7, and 7 Pro as potential or eligible models. A listed model did not, by itself, establish that a stable release existed for it at that point (historical tracker tables).

Oppo: ColorOS 12

ColorOS 12 was Oppo’s Android 12-era interface and belongs in the same tracker because it was closely related to software from OnePlus and realme. Shared development or related technology did not mean that a particular Oppo model and a OnePlus model had identical firmware, features, or rollout dates. ColorOS availability depended on model and market, and beta testing should not be read as stable availability. The historical coverage included ColorOS 12 among the major interfaces but does not establish one universal device list or schedule for every Oppo region.

realme: realme UI 3.0

realme UI 3.0 was announced as an Android 12-based interface, with an official unveiling planned for October 13, 2021. Reported design areas included spacing, widgets, quick settings, and visual changes; it was also related to ColorOS 12. Early rollout attention focused on the realme GT family.

Historical candidate lists included devices from GT, Narzo, X, Q, and V families. Some models were marked confirmed in reporting while others were explicitly unconfirmed. Do not flatten those categories into a promise that every named phone received Android 12: eligibility and release timing remained model- and market-specific (realme UI 3.0 tracker coverage).

Vivo, iQOO, Asus, Nokia, Motorola, Sony, ZTE, and Huawei

Beyond the largest interface families, Android 12 availability was vendor- and model-specific. Vivo used Funtouch OS on many international devices and OriginOS in China; iQOO releases also depended on the market and software branch. Asus delivered Android 12 through ZenUI-based firmware on selected models. Nokia/HMD, Motorola, and Sony each had their own model-level schedules rather than one brand-wide date. Carrier-branded devices, including some ZTE models, could face additional carrier testing or approval.

Huawei should be considered separately from conventional Android OEM rollouts. Its software direction had shifted toward HarmonyOS in relevant markets, so a Huawei update should not be assumed to be a Google Android 12 release. The historical tracker’s broader brand coverage is useful context, but it does not provide a single verified device-by-device outcome for all these vendors.

What update-status labels mean

Status How to interpret it
Announced The manufacturer publicly stated that a device or update program exists.
Developer preview Early software intended primarily for development and testing.
Closed beta Limited testing for selected or invited users.
Open beta Pre-release software available to a broader group, often subject to enrollment rules.
Stable rollout Production firmware is being distributed; it may still be staged.
Rolling out Availability may differ by region, batch, carrier, or variant.
Paused Distribution has been stopped temporarily, often while an issue is investigated or fixed.
Completed The relevant variant or market received the release; other carrier or regional variants may not have.
Unconfirmed The claim rests on predictions, leaks, or third-party reporting rather than clear official confirmation.

For an eligibility claim, stronger evidence is a manufacturer firmware page or official announcement, followed by a carrier notice or a production-build notification on the device. Reputable reporting that links to an announcement and firmware databases can add context. A leak or predicted list is weaker evidence. Processor capability, a sibling model’s update, a newer skin name, or a release in another country does not independently prove that a specific variant received Android 12.

Check your phone’s software version and update

Menu labels vary by firmware, language, carrier, and Android version. Before asking whether a release applies, note the exact model name and model number, current Android version, full build number, country or region, carrier, and whether the phone is unlocked, imported, or carrier-branded.

Compare the full build and exact variant with the maker’s or carrier’s information. A security-patch update is not necessarily an Android-version upgrade, and another owner’s screenshot may show a different region or firmware channel.

If the Android 12 update does not appear

  • Check the variant and rollout channel. A release may be staged by region or batch, or waiting for carrier approval. An imported device may use a different firmware branch from the same-named local model.
  • Check ordinary installation conditions. Ensure there is enough free storage and sufficient battery. Follow the device’s on-screen requirements before starting an update.
  • Check beta enrollment separately. Beta access may be closed, limited to selected users, or unavailable in your country; it is not equivalent to stable OTA availability.
  • Consider modified software. Rooting, an unlocked bootloader, or a modified ROM can affect installation or update delivery. Confirm the supported recovery path for the exact model before changing firmware.
  • Do not treat a VPN or region switch as an eligibility fix. It does not necessarily change the firmware channel tied to a device.
  • Contact the carrier or manufacturer if the exact variant should have received the build. Provide the model number and full build number, not just the retail name.

Manual firmware installation can bypass some staged-update delays, but a package for the wrong model, region, or carrier may fail, wipe data, or leave a phone unable to boot. Back up first and use only instructions intended for the precise variant. A factory reset is not the first troubleshooting step; consider it only after backing up and following the manufacturer’s recommended support guidance.

Historical rollout milestones

  • October 13, 2021: The planned official unveiling date reported for realme UI 3.0.
  • November 12, 2021: Closed OxygenOS 12 beta testing for OnePlus 8T and OnePlus 8-series users was reported.
  • November 14, 2021: The Android 12 tracker was published, covering the emerging One UI 4, MIUI 13, ColorOS 12, OxygenOS 12, Funtouch OS 12, OriginOS, and realme UI 3.0 landscape (tracker publication).
  • Through 2022: Samsung’s published One UI 4 schedule included device windows as late as July, illustrating the difference between an initial beta and later model-by-model distribution (Samsung schedule).

Why historical eligibility lists need caution

Static lists can mislead because they often combine official statements with expectations, omit regional firmware splits, or treat a beta as if it were a stable release. Xiaomi’s skin/base distinction is one clear example; carrier approval and staged batches create others. Even a confirmed release for one model number does not prove that a similarly named imported or carrier variant received the same build.

For a historical claim, keep the evidence and scope attached: the precise device variant, country or carrier, software base and skin, and whether the milestone was an announcement, beta, or production release. The available early tables are useful for reconstructing what owners were told at the time, but they do not support a definitive final compatibility list for every Android phone.
