The Anbernic RG DDS is an announced teaser, not a tested or confirmed-for-sale handheld: its reported screens and Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 make it worth watching, but its release date, final price, and real-world performance are not established. If you need a device now, compare currently listed alternatives—but check stock and checkout pricing, since even the RG DS showed as sold out when Anbernic’s official page was accessed in 2026.
What is the Anbernic RG DDS?
GamesRadar reported on October 9, 2026, that Anbernic had teased the RG DDS in a video and that its design resembles the New Nintendo 3DS. The reported configuration includes a 4.7-inch 720 × 1200 upper display, a 4-inch 960 × 720 lower display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 chipset, an integrated stylus, and two full-size thumbsticks. The reported layout also includes buttons for emulation and system functions. These are details from teaser coverage, not independently verified final specifications or test results. GamesRadar’s RG DDS report does not establish a release date or final retail price.

The same report says the RG DDS has no cartridge slot. That makes it a digital handheld rather than a way to use original game cartridges. A strong chipset specification alone also cannot confirm how well particular games will run: emulator compatibility, software setup, and measured performance remain unknown for this device.

The RG DS is the more documented Anbernic model. Its official product page lists two 4-inch IPS multi-touch displays at 640 × 480 each, an RK3568 quad-core 64-bit Cortex-A55 processor rated up to 2.0 GHz, ARM G52 2EE graphics, and 3 GB RAM with 32 GB storage. It supports Android 14 and 64-bit Linux, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and microSD/TF expansion up to 2 TB. Anbernic’s official RG DS listing also specifies a 4,000 mAh battery and claims up to six hours of battery life; that runtime is a manufacturer figure, not an independent endurance result.

The RG DDS’s reported upper display has more pixels than either RG DS panel, while the lower screen is also reported at a higher resolution than the RG DS screens. That difference does not establish how games will look or perform in practice. The RG DS listing supplies a more complete picture of software and memory; the RG DDS teaser does not yet provide equivalent information.
What about the Retroid Pocket Duo Lite?
GamesRadar reported that the Retroid Pocket Duo Lite has 5.5-inch and 4.5-inch IPS displays, uses a Qualcomm QCS6125 chipset, and was announced at $149. The report said no release date had been announced at the time. It also described a promotional demonstration of Mario Kart 7 running at 2× resolution; that is a reported demo, not independent testing or proof of broad game compatibility. See GamesRadar’s Retroid Pocket Duo Lite report for the announcement details.

The Lite is a useful comparison if you want a two-screen Android handheld, but the $149 figure is an announced price, not a verified current checkout price. The available reporting does not settle which device is faster in use: the RG DDS has no independent test results here, and the Retroid example is a promotional demonstration.
Where do AYN Thor, OneXSugar, and AYANEO Flip 1S DS fit?
OneXSugar and AYN Thor are identified alongside the RG DS as dual-screen options in Retro Handhelds’ September 28, 2026, review. That source does not provide enough comparable detail here to responsibly build a current specification or price table for those models. Its article describes the Retroid Duo line as spanning roughly $150 to more than $250 in its market context; that range should not be treated as a current quote for every model.

The AYANEO Flip 1S DS belongs to a different price and hardware class. PC Gamer reported in 2025 that it has a 7-inch, 144 Hz OLED upper panel and a 4.5-inch 1080p IPS lower panel, with an entry Ryzen 7 8840U configuration priced at $799 in that report. It is a premium handheld PC comparator, not a close budget substitute; check current price and availability before treating that older reported figure as a buying option. Details are in PC Gamer’s AYANEO Flip 1S DS coverage.

Start with what you need the device to do, rather than treating a processor name or teaser as a performance guarantee. A useful comparison should cover these points:
Rank #4
- Dual Converters, Infinite Potential:Includes 2× USB C male to USB A female adapters and 2× USB A male to USB C female adapters. Perfect for a wide range of uses—tablets with Bluetooth keyboards, expand USB ports on macbook, and more. Two different converters for all your daily needs
- Next-Level 10Gbps & 3A Charging: No more slow 480Mbps, this usb to usb c adapter has a transfer speed of up to 10Gbps, allowing you to do more transferring in less time. This usb adapter fits both USB A and USB C charger, supporting up to 3A fast charging
- Upgraded Exquisite Craftsmanship: With an aluminum alloy housing and metal connector, the usbc to usb adapter is extremely durable and sturdy. Rigorously tested to withstand more than 10,000 times of plugging and unplugging, ensuring long-lasting performance
- Broad Compatible: The usb c to usb adapter widely supports all USB C/ USB A devices like laptops, tablets, cellphones, car chargers, and phone chargers. Such as compatible with MacBook Pro/Air 2023/2022, Thunderbolt 4/3 Devices,Apple MagSafe Watch 9/8/7/SE/Ultra, iPad Pro 2022/2021, Samsung Galaxy S23/S20/S10, and iPhone 17/16/15 Pro. Plug and play
- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
- Two-screen layout: Compare the size, resolution, orientation, and touch support of both panels. For DS-style games, the proportions and how the displays are arranged may matter as much as resolution.
- Software and emulation: Check the operating system, available emulators, compatibility for the games you care about, and how much setup is required. The RG DS’s software is listed by Anbernic; the cited RG DDS teaser coverage does not state its operating system.
- Real performance: Look for independent tests using the same games and settings you plan to use. A chipset specification describes hardware, not verified frame rates or a smooth experience; the Retroid Mario Kart 7 example is a promotional demo.
- Controls and comfort: Consider stick placement, buttons, hinge position, stylus access, grip, and weight. The RG DDS teaser reports two full-size sticks and a stylus, but there is no hands-on comfort assessment in the cited coverage.
- Price and availability: Separate an announced price from a live checkout price, and confirm stock before deciding. The available RG DDS coverage gives no confirmed launch date or final price; the RG DS listing showed sold out when accessed in 2026.
If you can wait for independent reviews and a confirmed listing, the RG DDS is a watch-and-compare option rather than a device to preorder on the basis of teaser specifications. If you need a handheld now, evaluate models with current, verifiable stock and check their software and game compatibility against your own needs. The evidence cited here is not enough to declare a universal performance winner among the dual-screen options.
