A June 24, 2024 report from TweakReviews identified an AMD “Maple Rev.B” evaluation-board configuration associated with the then-unreleased Strix Halo mobile APU. The listing reportedly specified up to 128GB of memory and a 120W thermal design power (TDP). It was a development-board sighting—not an AMD retail launch, a consumer product listing, or a performance test.
What the Maple Rev.B sighting actually showed
TweakReviews’ shipping and customs-information report connected the Maple Rev.B board to AMD’s Strix Halo project and attributed two notable capabilities to it: support for up to 128GB of memory and a 120W TDP. The report did not establish a retail release, final system design, cooling solution, firmware behavior, sustained power limits, or benchmark results.

That distinction matters. Engineering and evaluation boards are used to validate silicon, memory, firmware and platform designs. Their listed specifications can describe a target configuration rather than a product that consumers can buy. No verified retail listing for the Maple Rev.B board is established by the available reporting.

Is 120W the default power level?
No. AMD lists 55W as the default TDP for Ryzen AI Max+ 395 and a 45–120W configurable range. Therefore, the 120W figure reported for Maple Rev.B should be understood as a possible platform or processor configuration at the top of AMD’s official range, not as the power draw of every Strix Halo system.

Why 128GB is significant for an integrated GPU
Ryzen AI Max+ systems use unified memory: the CPU and integrated GPU draw from the same LPDDR5x pool. AMD’s processor page lists up to 128GB, while its January 2025 CES portfolio announcement said that Ryzen AI Max systems could provide up to 96GB for graphics. The latter is a family-level capability statement, not a promise that every 128GB configuration reserves exactly 96GB for the GPU.
A large shared memory pool can benefit local AI models, content-creation applications and GPU workloads that would otherwise be constrained by dedicated graphics memory. It does not, by itself, establish a particular level of graphics performance; bandwidth, power limits, drivers and software optimization remain decisive.

The later Ryzen AI Halo developer platform
AMD subsequently documented a real Ryzen AI Halo Developer Platform built around Ryzen AI Max+ 395. Its published configuration includes:

- 128GB of LPDDR5x memory at 8000 MT/s
- 256GB/s memory bandwidth
- 2TB M.2 SSD
- 120W TDP
This developer system confirms that AMD later offered a documented platform combining the processor, 128GB memory and 120W setting. It should not be treated as proof that the earlier Maple Rev.B board was the same hardware or reached retail channels.

What prospective buyers should take from the report
The sighting was an early indication of the direction AMD was pursuing: a high-core-count mobile processor with unusually large unified memory and a power envelope that could scale to 120W in suitable systems. The later Ryzen AI Max+ 395 specifications and Ryzen AI Halo developer platform show that those broad capabilities became documented products, but they do not turn the Maple Rev.B board into a confirmed consumer model.
Anyone evaluating a Ryzen AI Max system should check the exact machine’s installed memory, graphics-memory allocation, firmware power modes, cooling design and adapter rating. The processor’s maximums are not guarantees that every system implements them.
