No number came with the pledge: no unit count, percentage or revenue figure.
What Su said
Reuters reported the remarks from Taipei. Su said: “We’ve been able to increase our supply as we’ve gone through 2026, and we’re going to substantially increase our supply in 2027.” She framed the work as supporting production of both CPUs and GPUs.

“Substantially” is the only measure on offer. This is a statement of corporate intent, not a published production forecast, so any specific percentage or shipment estimate attached to it would be invented.
What Su was doing in Taiwan
Per Reuters, the visit centered on supplier readiness:
#1 Best Overall
- The world’s fastest gaming processor, built on AMD ‘Zen5’ technology and Next Gen 3D V-Cache.
- 8 cores and 16 threads, delivering +~16% IPC uplift and great power efficiency
- 96MB L3 cache with better thermal performance vs. previous gen and allowing higher clock speeds, up to 5.2GHz
- Drop-in ready for proven Socket AM5 infrastructure
- Cooler not included
- Foxconn: Su said she had met the company.
- TSMC: she was due to meet TSMC during the trip.
- Memory makers: AMD is working with suppliers including Samsung and SK Hynix.
- Wafers: Su said AMD needs additional advanced wafer capacity.
The list shows why raising output is not one decision. A finished AI system depends on wafers, memory, packaging and assembly all scaling together, and a shortfall at any stage limits the whole.
Why AMD is expanding
The backdrop comes from AMD’s Q2 2026 earnings call (the transcript is hosted by a third party, so these are management statements, not independently verified results). On that call, Su described strong demand for server CPUs and data-center AI. She said server CPU supply was tight in the first half of 2026 because the demand had not been forecast, and that she expected the 2027 server supply situation to improve as more capacity came online.

She also said the ramp of Helios, AMD’s rack-scale AI system, began in Q3 2026, steps up in Q4 and Q1, and continues to grow through 2027. She described the work as spanning wafers, back-end capacity, substrates and components.

Which products are involved
| Area | What the sources say |
|---|---|
| Server CPUs (EPYC) | Supply was tight in H1 2026; Su expected 2027 to be better as capacity arrives (Q2 call). |
| Data-center AI GPUs and systems (Instinct, Helios) | Helios ramp to grow through 2027 (Q2 call). |
| Planned CPU vs. GPU split | Not stated in any source. |
The announcement is about enterprise and data-center supply. The sources name no consumer product, so it does not signal anything about retail CPU or graphics card availability.

AMD’s own SEC filing from August 2026 lists the relevant risks: dependence on third-party manufacturers and suppliers, memory and other component availability, manufacturing yields, and keeping the supply chain efficient as demand shifts. Su’s remarks also tie capacity growth to the timing of data-center readiness and supplier additions, so customer sites need to be ready to take the hardware as well.
