Yes—some AMD E1 processors can run Windows 10. Microsoft’s Windows 10 version 21H1 processor list names the E1-2100 with Radeon HD 8210 and the E1-2500 with Radeon HD 8240. That does not confirm compatibility for every E1 laptop, Windows release, or driver configuration. And because Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025, installing it is not the same as having a secure, supported everyday PC.
Which AMD E1 processors are listed for Windows 10?
Microsoft’s processor list for Windows 10 version 21H1 includes these two AMD E1 models:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- AMD E1-2100, with Radeon HD 8210 graphics.
- AMD E1-2500, with Radeon HD 8240 graphics.
This is evidence for those named processors on that particular Windows 10 release list, not a blanket compatibility guarantee for every processor marketed as AMD E1 or every later Windows 10 version. Check the exact model in Windows System Information or the laptop’s product listing. See Microsoft’s Windows 10 version 21H1 supported AMD processor list.
Will the whole laptop meet Windows 10’s requirements?
A processor listing is only one part of the check. Microsoft’s published baseline requirements for Windows 10 include a 1 GHz or faster processor, at least 1 GB of RAM for 32-bit Windows or 2 GB for 64-bit Windows, and DirectX 9 graphics with a WDDM 1.0 driver. Microsoft specifies 32 GB of storage for newer Windows 10 versions. These are minimum requirements, not a promise of good performance on a low-power laptop.

- Check installed memory: establish whether the laptop has enough RAM for the Windows edition you plan to install.
- Check available storage: make sure the drive can accommodate the required Windows version and leave room for updates and files.
- Check graphics and other drivers: use the support page for the exact laptop model, not just the APU family.
Microsoft’s Windows 10 system requirements explain the published minimums. Meeting them does not establish that the computer will feel responsive for your intended workload.
What should you know about AMD E1 graphics drivers?
Driver support depends on the APU generation. AMD’s Windows 10 guidance lists E1/E2/A4/A6/A8-6000 series APUs among supported products, while AMD says graphics drivers for E1/E2-1000 series APUs are provided by Microsoft through Windows Update. For an E1 laptop, check both AMD’s guidance and the laptop maker’s model-specific support page before installing.

E1-2500: a legacy driver example
AMD’s E1-2500 download page offers Windows 10 32-bit and 64-bit driver options, but marks the product as moved to legacy support with no further driver releases planned. The page lists Adrenalin 22.6.1 Recommended (WHQL), dated June 23, 2022. That provides a driver route for this model; it does not mean the driver is current or that AMD continues to develop drivers for it. Check AMD’s E1-2500 driver page.

For E1/E2-1000 series APUs, AMD says Windows 10 graphics drivers are supplied by Microsoft through Windows Update. This route is different from downloading an ongoing AMD driver package, so confirm the laptop’s other hardware drivers with its manufacturer. Read AMD’s guidance for E1/E2-1000 series graphics drivers.

Is Windows 10 still a good choice for an AMD E1 laptop?
That depends on the intended use, but the support status matters: Microsoft ended Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025. Microsoft says it no longer provides free Windows Update software updates, technical assistance, or security fixes after that date. Windows 10 may still run, but an internet-connected everyday computer without standard security fixes carries a meaningful risk. Microsoft’s Windows 10 information states the end-of-support date and what it means.

Decide separately whether the hardware can run the operating system and whether using an unsupported operating system suits your situation. For a PC used online for email, banking, work, or other sensitive activity, the end of standard support is an important reason to consider a supported alternative rather than treating installation as the only question.

- Identify the exact APU. Open Windows System Information or check the laptop’s product listing. Record the full model, such as E1-2100 or E1-2500, rather than relying on “AMD E1.”
- Find the laptop maker’s support page. Search by the laptop’s exact model and check for Windows 10 chipset, graphics, network, audio, and other drivers. A processor being named on Microsoft’s list does not confirm that every laptop component has a working driver.
- Check RAM and storage. Compare the installed configuration with Microsoft’s minimum requirements for your Windows edition and version. Treat the minimum as a baseline, not a performance target.
- Weigh the support risk. Account for Windows 10’s end of standard support on October 14, 2025, especially if the laptop will connect to the internet or handle sensitive information.
What you need to create Windows installation media
If you decide to install or reinstall Windows, Microsoft specifies a blank USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of capacity for creating installation media. Creating the media erases the drive’s contents, so use an empty drive or back up anything you need first. The USB drive helps with installation; it does not resolve hardware compatibility, driver availability, or Windows 10’s support status. Microsoft’s installation-media instructions explain the requirements.
