Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →To overclock RAM on an ASUS Prime motherboard, enable the memory profile available for your exact board and memory kit in BIOS—typically XMP, EXPO, or DOCP—then confirm the system runs reliably. The menu names, supported profile, and stable speed vary by motherboard, BIOS version, CPU, and memory. A profile loads preset overclock settings; it does not guarantee that every system can use them.
Before changing BIOS settings
Check compatibility before enabling a profile. ASUS says memory frequency depends on the DRAM, motherboard, and CPU. The speed printed on a kit is therefore not a guaranteed result for your system.

- Identify the exact ASUS Prime motherboard model and check its CPU and memory support list. ASUS explains how to find the board’s QVL (Qualified Vendor List) and search its memory entries in its QVL lookup guide. Match the full memory-kit part number where possible. ASUS says listed devices have been verified for compatibility and stability, but a QVL listing is not a guarantee for every individual system.
- Use a matched memory kit rather than mixing separate modules, especially when diagnosing a profile that will not run reliably.
- Consider the number of installed DIMMs and the CPU as well as the kit’s advertised profile. These all affect the configuration your system can handle.
For terminology and profile setup, see ASUS’s memory-profile BIOS FAQ, last updated September 10, 2026. ASUS cautions that BIOS examples and options vary by motherboard and BIOS version.

Enable the memory profile in BIOS
- Enter BIOS: Restart the computer and press Delete during startup. The key can vary by system; consult your motherboard manual if Delete does not open BIOS.
- Open Advanced Mode: If BIOS starts in EZ Mode, press F7 to switch to Advanced Mode.
- Find the memory-profile setting: Open Ai Tweaker and select Ai OverClock Tuner. Choose the profile your board exposes for your memory kit. ASUS’s examples include XMP I for XMP memory on Intel boards, DOCP for EXPO memory on Intel boards, EXPO I for EXPO memory on AMD boards, and DOCP for XMP memory on AMD boards. These are examples, not a universal menu map; use the labels available in your own BIOS.
- Save and restart: Press F10, review the changes, and confirm saving. Let the computer reboot.
XMP (Intel Extreme Memory Profile), EXPO (AMD Extended Profiles for Overclocking), and DOCP (Direct Over Clock Profile) are profile labels you may encounter. ASUS describes these profiles as loading preset overclock settings and DRAM timings stored on the memory’s SPD chip. Which label appears depends on your board, firmware, and memory.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check that the system is stable
Getting back into the operating system after saving does not by itself establish that the profile is reliable. Use your usual workload and a memory-stability test, and watch for errors, crashes, or failed starts. If problems occur, disable the profile or restore BIOS defaults before trying another supported option. Do not assume the highest advertised kit speed is attainable simply because the profile appears in BIOS.
If the profile fails or the computer will not start
- Power off and check that the memory modules are installed in the slots specified by the motherboard manual.
- If the issue continues, try modules individually, following the manual’s slot guidance. A matched kit is preferable to a mixture of modules.
- Restore BIOS settings using the board’s CLRTC/CMOS reset procedure. Follow the exact motherboard manual; reset locations and steps are model-specific.
- Once the system starts, check the exact kit part number against the board’s memory QVL. ASUS also recommends updating BIOS if listed components still have compatibility or stability problems; use the instructions for your exact board.
Should you use XMP Tweaked?
Only consider XMP Tweaked if your BIOS offers it and you are willing to verify stability. ASUS describes it as an optional ASUS tuning profile that can go beyond standard XMP profiles by adjusting subtimings and other memory parameters. ASUS cautions that not all motherboards or kits support it and that stability is not guaranteed. It is not a necessary step for enabling a standard memory profile.

How to choose among the available options
There is no universal performance ranking among XMP, EXPO, and DOCP labels. Choose based on what your exact BIOS supports, whether your board and CPU support the kit, whether you are using a matched kit, and whether the resulting configuration proves stable. If your first choice fails, return to a known-working BIOS configuration rather than compensating with unsupported voltage or timing changes.
