How to disable Two-Step Verification on Amazon
These steps reflect Amazon’s US customer-help instructions. Labels or screens may vary by marketplace, account state, or later interface changes.

Sign in to the Amazon customer account whose setting you want to change.

Open Your Account, then select Login & security.

Find Two-Step Verification and select Disable beside it.

Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm the change.
Amazon describes Two-Step Verification as an added layer of security for account log-ins. Disabling this setting does not guarantee that Amazon will never request another identity or security check. Amazon’s Two-Step Verification help page provides the customer-account instructions.

What to do if you cannot receive a code
First try a registered backup method or sign in from a trusted device. Amazon’s sign-in flow can use a password plus a unique security code; its help page lists text messages and authenticator apps as code options. They are ways to receive a code, not prerequisites for disabling Two-Step Verification.

Amazon says it cannot change Two-Step Verification settings until it has successfully verified the account holder’s identity. See Amazon’s account recovery instructions. If recovery does not work, contact Amazon through its official customer-support route. Do not share your password or verification codes with anyone.

What disabling it does—and does not—change
Disabling Two-Step Verification changes the setting on the Amazon customer account; do not assume it removes verification requirements from every Amazon service. Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), for example, says verification is still required to access its Your Account page even when Two-Step Verification is disabled on the customer account. This documented exception applies to that KDP page and should not be generalized to other services. KDP’s Two-Step Verification help page explains its requirement.

If your reason for disabling it is code access
If you can sign in but have trouble receiving codes, consider whether you can access another listed method, such as text message or an authenticator app, or use a registered backup method or trusted device. Amazon’s help pages do not establish that one code method is more reliable, less costly, or more secure than another. You can also keep Two-Step Verification enabled and update your available methods through Amazon’s account settings.
