Choose Amazon Luna if you want a curated game catalog tied to Prime and simple play on a compatible TV; choose GeForce NOW if you want to stream supported games from PC stores you already use. The deciding factor is whether the games you want are available in your country and work with your device, controller, plan and connection—not a headline game count or a claim that one service is always faster.
How Luna and GeForce NOW give you access to games
Amazon Luna offers a subscription catalog
Luna streams games from remote Amazon Web Services servers to your device: your controller inputs travel over the internet, and the game’s video and audio stream back. Amazon says streaming does not require downloading or installing the games. Luna Standard is included with eligible Prime membership, while Luna Premium is a paid plan with an expanded library. What is available depends on your location and the current catalog. Amazon’s Luna overview describes the service and its plans.

GeForce NOW streams supported games from connected services
GeForce NOW links to services such as Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, PC Game Pass and Ubisoft Connect, then streams supported titles you own or can access. Linking a store does not make every game in that store playable: check each title against NVIDIA’s current game list. NVIDIA also describes Install-to-Play for additional Steam games on premium plans. Its overview reports more than 4,500 PC games, a provider count that is not directly comparable to Luna’s subscription catalog. NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW overview explains the connected-library model.

Which service fits your games and setup?
| What matters | Amazon Luna | GeForce NOW | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Game access | Curated subscription content; Standard is included with eligible Prime membership, and Premium expands the catalog. | Supported games from connected PC stores and subscriptions; some features, including Install-to-Play, depend on plan. | Search for the exact titles you play in your region before choosing. |
| Best fit | People who value a managed catalog, Prime integration and living-room or social play. | People with supported games in linked PC libraries who want PC-focused features and higher performance tiers. | Decide whether a bundled catalog or access to your supported PC library matters more. |
| Devices | Amazon lists Fire TV, Fire tablets, Windows and Mac computers, Chromebook, phones and tablets, and selected Samsung and LG TVs. | NVIDIA lists PCs, browsers, mobile devices, TVs, Fire TV and handhelds, with specific requirements by device. | Check the exact model, operating-system version, app or browser, controller and plan. |
| Price | Amazon’s U.S. page lists Standard as included with Prime and Premium at $9.99 per month; local prices may differ. | A stable current price is not stated on the NVIDIA pages cited here. | Check live local plan pages, and include any Prime membership or game purchase or subscription you need. |
| Availability | Full cloud gaming is available only in listed countries; other territories may have claimable games without cloud streaming. | Availability depends on region. | Confirm your country, account region and local catalog. |
Amazon’s U.S. plan details are time-sensitive and territorial; see Amazon’s Luna overview for current details. For GeForce NOW, check NVIDIA’s membership information rather than assuming a price or feature applies everywhere.

Check country and catalog before subscribing
Amazon’s eligibility page lists 14 countries with full Luna cloud gaming: the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Poland, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Portugal and Luxembourg. It distinguishes those locations from countries where customers can claim games but cannot use Luna cloud gaming. Prime availability alone therefore does not establish Luna streaming availability. Check Amazon’s Luna country eligibility page for your location.
Neither catalog should be treated as fixed. Amazon’s terms say subscription services and the titles offered may change over time and by location. A title’s presence today is not a guarantee it will remain available. Review Amazon’s Luna Terms of Use and the current service catalog; for GeForce NOW, verify each game in NVIDIA’s supported-games list.

Device support: check the exact model, not just the category
Both services support a range of screens, but broad labels such as “TV” or “phone” are not enough to confirm compatibility. Supported models, operating-system versions, apps or browsers, controllers and plan features can differ. Amazon lists compatible devices on its Luna overview; NVIDIA provides model- and platform-specific details in its GeForce NOW system requirements.

For a TV setup, confirm the generation and software version of your Fire TV device before relying on it. The Amazon Luna Controller is one option for Luna, and NVIDIA also lists it among supported Fire TV gamepads for GeForce NOW. Controller compatibility does not guarantee that every TV or stick is supported by both services.

Internet requirements and performance expectations
NVIDIA recommends less than 80 ms latency to an NVIDIA data center, and recommends wired Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Its published bandwidth requirements are 15 Mbps for HD up to 60 fps, 25 Mbps for Full HD at 60 fps, and 35 Mbps for QHD at 90 or 120 fps. These are NVIDIA’s service recommendations, not a guarantee of image quality or responsiveness on a particular home network. Requirements vary by device and resolution; consult NVIDIA’s system requirements.
Bandwidth is only one part of a streaming setup. The connection’s latency to the service, Wi-Fi conditions and device can affect how play feels. The specifications reviewed do not establish a controlled head-to-head speed or image-quality winner between Luna and GeForce NOW. If responsiveness is decisive, try the service on your own network and device if a trial or other access option is available.

When Luna’s Prime and living-room features make sense
If you already have eligible Prime membership, Luna Standard is a practical first option when the games you want are in its current local catalog and your device is supported. Amazon also says GameNight is included in Luna Standard for Prime members: with a compatible TV, players can use phones as controllers, with the number of players varying by game. See Amazon’s Luna overview for the current plan and feature details.
This is a fit for people who want a selected library and shared-screen play without managing a connected PC game library. It is less suitable if the titles you care about are absent from Luna’s catalog or cloud gaming is not available in your country.
When GeForce NOW’s connected PC library is the better fit
Check GeForce NOW first if you already own games in supported stores and want to stream them on a Mac, browser, handheld or TV. Confirm both the game and the specific device before subscribing: a linked store is not a promise that its entire library is playable. NVIDIA’s game list and system requirements are the relevant checks.
NVIDIA says its Ultimate membership unlocks RTX 5080-class cloud performance, with up to 5K resolution and 120 fps. That is a provider-stated plan capability, not an independently measured result or a promise that every game, screen and connection will deliver those settings. For plan capabilities and device limits, consult NVIDIA’s overview and system requirements.
Quick Recap
A quick decision checklist
- Choose Luna first if you have eligible Prime membership, live in a full cloud-gaming country, and find your games in the current Luna catalog.
- Choose GeForce NOW first if you already own games in linked stores and have verified that the specific titles are supported.
- For either service, confirm country, device model, operating-system or app requirements, controller support and the current plan.
- If picture quality or responsiveness is your deciding factor, compare the requirements for your own setup and try the service on your network where possible; published specifications alone do not identify a universal winner.
